I simply could not resist a semi auto 12 Ga shotgun for  $ 226
Beleve it or not it is OK.
It works well.
Comes with 3 choke tubes Imp, Mod and full.
You can use Beretta/Benelli choke tubes- I tried and they work just great.

At the range today I shot 40 rounds of RIO target loads 1 oz 1210 Fps. The shotgun operatede flawlessly.
Then I changed the gas piston ( It comes with 2 one for light loads and the other for slugs Magnum loads and Buckshot) Not a big deal quick and easy.
The regular gas piston has rings and the heavy load gas piston does not have 5rings

5 Rounds of Winchester Mil Spec 00 buckshot
10 rounds of Royal 00 buck
10 rounds of Suprema 00 Buck

5 rounds of Federal 1oz slugs
10 rounds of Winchester 1oz slugs.

No issues of any kind.

How about some pics.

Just might buy a gun with the family namesake.

I don't think I'm above making that purchase.

I have a lot of shotguns I want, but in Northern Virginia, there just isn't the supply of neat, older shotguns to choose from.

I understand your impulse OP, and I'd probably have done the same.

Shotguns are like ARs. They are an incurable disease. I'd say more so, in fact. Shotguns in demand are harder to find. Everyone and their mom makes an AR.

I love both.

The Hatfield is inertia operated.
I have another Turkish shotgun that is gas operated

I could swear that there is a difference in the felt recoil between the gas system and the inerta system.

Recoil is an issue with my wife and daughter.
They hate shooting my 12 Ga pump shotguns.

It seems to me that the felt recoil of a semi auto is about half that of a pump.

I looked at one the other day when I was in WM, I thought it kind of had a Benelli look to me. I'm half tempted to pick one up just because they are so cheap, maybe throw it behind the seat of the truck for pest control.

Thanks for the review.  I'm picking one up tomorrow.

Still not sure if I'm going to hack the barrel or not but it's good to know it was reliable and ate everything when you shot it.

And for under $250 out the door, you can't beat it.

Oh great, another shotgun for under $300 I want to try now.

Thanks OP...

OK, I am officially confused,  OP refers to two gas pistons, yet other posters compare it to a Benelli, and refer to inertia operation.

Which is it?

I remember seeing a Turkish shotgun that strongly resembled a Benelli, but it had another name, not Hatfield.

Maybe an Escort, most of their auto shotguns look like Benellis.

I read on another site that the Hatfield gun is a gas assisted inertia gun.

I just bought one. $246 otd for a brand new 12 ga autoloader with 3 chokes. It's a good looking gun. Comes with a light load "gas tube" and a heavy load one. Admittedly, I don't know much about it, or exactly how it operates. But for $226 before taxes, who cares.

I went to Walmart with my father the other day, he was spinning the gun rack and stopped on the Hatfield and said "I like this one" he said something like it had a neat looking stock. And it is, very beautiful, I'm guessing Turkish walnut? I may buy it if it's still there in a few days. I asked if this was a close out or something and they said it was regular price replenishable item. FYI they had a mossy 930 on clearance for $299 and a savage 62f (iirc) for $74.

Does anybody have a Walmart SKU for this shotgun?

My Walmart doesn't know anything about it.

SKU is 000555489323

I may have just stumbled across one and tossed in layaway for the next couple of days...

I don't have super high hopes for it, but it seemed well put-together at least.  Hey, if it works to throw some lead at some clays, I'll be pleased.

A lot of them are using a wrap to give the look of higher-grade wood.  Not sure that's the case here, but for under $300, I'd place my money on it.

From the one I handled yesterday, I honestly think it's solid wood.  I didn't pull the forend off to look inside, but if it's a wrap on there, it's a convincing one.  I'll know for sure tomorrow and report back.

Stopped by the local Walmart - Still none in the rack.

As I now have the SKU - thanks to Parke1 - I eventually found someone to ask to check inventory.

"Oh yeah, we have 2 in stock." Can I buy one of them?

"I'm not authorized or trained to sell guns, let me find someone"

"Here's Achmed, he can help you."

Hi Achmed, I would like to buy one of those guns in the back room.

"I cannot sell guns right now, the printer is broken."

When will it be fixed?

"Maybe tomorrow, we called a tech on Monday."

It's been broken for 3 days?

"No it broke last week. We called on Monday"

"Please come back tomorrow, maybe call first."

A local store of mine has these but after buying a bunch of clearance rifles and scopes I need to give it a break for a minute. My wife is about to divorce me. Whichever actually may not be a bad thing

The gun looks really nice

And I thought it was hard enough to get them to crack open the ammo case.

Locally, there is one Wal Mart that sells firearms and they have a decent selection of rifles and shotguns.  I have not seen the amazing deals there as opposed to here.  I was looking to pick up a lever action .357 cheap.

I'd be very interested to know what the threads are on the magazine cap - if mag extensions are available for three gun use.

Are the loading ramps pretty easy for shoving shells in?
Link Posted: 9/17/2016 7:48:57 AM EDT

The mag cap threads are GTG with a mag extention for a Rem 870 mag extention.
Fitsperfectly - no slop

I attempted to pick mine up yesterday, but apparently there was no one at Walmart on duty that was capable of completing the background check

I suppose I'll pick it up in a couple days.

Any more hands on / firing time with one of these by anyone?

That's what I would really like to hear. A successful  trip to the range says one thing about the gun. A hundred trips to the range says something else.

I bought one last week.  It ain't no Remington 1100 but once I  got things figured out, it's not half bad.  A lot like the Tri-Star I bought for my son a few years ago.  This one requires a separate action weight for  heavy loads.  I tried to get some 3 dram equivalent 1-1/8 oz. to cycle using the heavy load sleeve and no dice.  I will have to give it a try with the 3-1/4-1-1/4 "live pigeon" load and the heavy load sleeve. If that cycles, I'll call that the lower limit for heavy sleeve.  If not, then it will be the upper limit for light duty sleeve.  Will just have to remember to not shoot the heavy stuff using light load sleeve or you might break something.

The Tri-Star didn't have the 2-sleeve feature to hassle with.

To get the action to stay open, you have to pull the trigger.  This causes a little pin to stick out which stops the bolt from slamming shut until you push the button on the side. As long as you are careful and get to know the features, you'll be OK.

It throws the 3"  Winchester XX Turkey loads out with a vengeance so be sure to watch out for your buddy to your right!

All in all, so far so good.  Kicks like a mule with heavy loads but goes with the territory.  Will have to add weight but for carrying on dove hunts, would be hard to beat!  If I didn't already have an1100 Sporting in 20 GA., I'd be down there next pay period.  Some people think I have a gun problem, well, let them think.  No problem here except there's never enough money.  Someone else will have to make a 20 gauge report!

I was in Wal-mart yesterday and they finally have one on the rack.  It actually looks nice (not ugly) anyway.

I am very tempted - can't find much in this price range and when I do, I usually buy.

I don't need another shotgun, but don't mind one either.
