All the shotguns that were/are branded Weatherby are made by somebody else. Back in the 1970s Weatherby sold shotguns made by SKB in Japan. Those are nice guns but parts availability and repair services are probably better for SKB brand guns. |

I took a British M1907 Enfield bayonet with a messed up grip and spliced it with a M7 bayonet. I added more material under the grip to make it stronger. Whats not in the pic is I sharpened the blade then case hardened it. Works perfect! |

View Quote Oh look at that poor shotgun. It was born with such short barrels. Imagine never being able to swing smoothly on a passing bird. So tragic. Hopefully, some wizard can put the thing back together again and it can find some usefulness in life . . . standing guard over the back of the closet door perhaps . . . BTW, what is that? Have you measured the chambers? |

Those are the most useful extra "couple ounces" north of your belt!!! Now, since this is a picture thread, here is my very-not-new-to-me Mossberg 590A1 Shotty go boom (the actual USMC metal trigger guard, heavy barrel wall version) for things that go bump in the night. She is part blaster, part Bo staff/baseball bat, part spear, and full dark capable with 16 rounds of Hornady Superformance1600 fps 00 buckshot on board. She wears an 8 shell butt cuff with Remington 1oz sluggers these days as well. Other ad-ons include a Mesa Tactical forged aluminum 8 round side saddle shell Carrier, a Blackhawk sling (bought on clearance for ten bucks), an unused M7 military surplus bayonet (the thinner, double-edged profile is better for sliding into small gaps, such as those between a ghouls ribs), a SureFire G3 LED flashlight with a Streamlight click on/off tail cap switch (which took some carving down of the G3 body behind the threads to fit), a Wolff extra power magazine spring, and of course the soft rubbery goodness of a Hogue stock and forend. This gives me 8 rounds of 00 buckshot in the magazine tube (with an empty chamber), another 8 rounds of 00 buckshot in the side saddle, and 8 rounds of 1oz slugs in the carrier on my stock. NOTE: I am thinking seriously about adding a "Center Mass" laser, and I would gratefully welcome any personal experience and advice from the collective. Worthy of note, and I hope this helps someone out, is the fact that I cannot say enough good stuff about my TruGlo Armored TFO (Tritium & Fiber Optic) front sight. I am in love with this sight. I find no second place winner on the market. It requires minor drilling and tapping of the barrel to install, but it is a TANK and it glows with a BIG BRIGHT GREEN DOT - be it dawn, day, dusk, or dark. Try one out, you will not be disappointed. I'm planning to add one to my new hunting gun when I get it. To address some other comments with my humble opinion, which grows from a great deal of hard use with this sight on my Mossberg 590A1, I do not find any issue with it blocking the target. Now it is not intended for long range wing shooting birds, although the "swing-through" method I was taught to use when young does not present any target obfuscation issues for me when I do shoot small moving targets like clays at reasonable 20 inch barrel with IC choke distances, and it has been amazingly useful for close fast defensive/competitive/recreational shooting, and absolute devastating for close to medium range dispatching of varmints and small game. I do not shot any animals without cause, but it will drop one of the far-too-acclimated-to-humans pet eating Coyotes that have moved in on us where we live in Louisiana, since their habitat was developed (faster than you might think possible) into big block apartments and strip malls. Goodbye nearby small game hunting land, hello Coyotes running the waterways between the backs of our houses through the middle of our residential/suburb blocks (and even brazenly through streets, parking lots, school playgrounds, and our neighborhood extreme sports park), eating dogs, cats, chickens, etc. Get you one of these sights, if it is appropriate for your chosen shotgun and tasks. I do not think that you will be disappointed. To address the target obfuscation issue in more detail, and if you like the idea of this sight but still want a smaller"bead" profile, I cut the rib back and ground the supports to match the barrel contour on my Mossberg Ultimag and mounted one of these where the last section of rib by the muzzle used to be, and the height and profile are very close to the large white plastic bead that was on there from the factory, making it much less obstructive, while still shooting perfectly to point of aim. The sight also covered the spots where I had to grind off the rib support, so I did a little touch up with a Brownells black finish pin (for "rust-paranoia") but this sight covered the spot completely anyway. Features of the shotgun include: -8 layers of krylon mixed with a "trailer park patina" (i.e a mixture of rust, wear, and overall lack of care) -23" barrel that came with a full choke installed and was missing the front bead -"custom" gravel installed in the recoil pad -a wood dowel that was shoved in place of where the steel trigger housing retaining pin should be.... With that said, I took this beauty straight to the local range and ran 50 rounds of game load bird shot through it, followed by 8 rounds of 00 buck, in the pouring rain. The 4th shell stuck in the barrel thanks to an incredibly dirty (and surface rusted) chamber, once i popped the shell out by hand and wiped out the chamber with my finger it was good to go. Once I got it home, I broke it down and went to work cleaning it up; removing rust, removing paint where it shouldn't be, cleaning up the bore, replaced the front bead, ordered a proper trigger pin from brownells, and reassembled to make it "good as new....? I guess". The question is now, is this shotgun worth the money to buy all the brake cleaner necessary to remove the layered paint jobs of owners-past? (I already have plenty of krylon laying around from other rattle can paint jobs). https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15747674_10208054970907897_8458838132745096725_n.jpg?oh=acfc6fd2c368295560a017c638ad0793&oe=59200A0E https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15823721_10208054971347908_4655415360260635754_n.jpg?oh=85c4fcdf59996783d650e0768e63ee4c&oe=58DDC2CC https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15740943_10208054971787919_283498936057019365_n.jpg?oh=2d0c0d75ec03dfa37a64145c43b55265&oe=59205163 https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15826128_10208054972187929_8445022607333778495_n.jpg?oh=9b10e0fbde0a9bedc5b4275407961941&oe=58E0BB3C https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15726288_10208054972627940_1351686079736240868_n.jpg?oh=f9d6cf79f7ab86ee966be628db6afea6&oe=58EE7546 https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/15781495_10208054973027950_5390725841454448349_n.jpg?oh=cb1f0c1d46713c6d4377e3f00b7b18fe&oe=58E4C3AA https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/15800371_10208055488720842_8308843450645189500_o.jpg?oh=464d6e83f56534729d310ed09fe972f7&oe=58ECAF9F https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p75x225/15822824_10208063593563458_7628150656887457157_n.jpg?oh=9cf3b85b03fbf0a7949fc317e5bf2af2&oe=592332A4 https://scontent-dft4-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/15844323_10208063685605759_3866032870807695570_o.jpg?oh=316f1060cbd49f950317190e88f1b801&oe=58E3C1E2 View Quote That must be an early Maverick 88 because it has only one action bar. |

Right now, it was cleaned thoroughly, pin will be replaced, and will be kept "as is" with the current "patina". |
