Finally took my fnx 45 out today for the first time and had a lot of fte I was using Aguila 230 grain ammo and my osprey.the first round I had an fte then it got better not having any for about another 75 to 100 rds after that I couldn't make it thru a complete mag for about another 100rds so i was done, also one time inserting the mag with the action open it closed on me without releasing the slide release and on occasion the mags seem like they are hitting something because they stop before they are all the way in ,they just don't go in smooth.any help would be great thanks

fnp 45 user here ... lots of fte if you limp at all..until you break in the spring a bit (after a few 100 rnds no issues whatsoever). also it is a known issue for fn to return to battery if you rail a mag home.. i dont mind that feature really.

check out fnforum.net   lots of FN porn to be had there.

hurray! my 1st arfcom post!

I had the same FTE issues with my new FNX tactical, and was immensely frustrated. It was a single shot pistol at first, and even after a hundred or so rounds it still couldn't finish a mag. Apparently they ship with very firm springs.

Solutions: Ensure all factory gunk is cleaned off mating surfaces, shoot hotter ammo at first, and hand cycle the slide in your free time.

I hand cycled hundreds of times prior to my second range session. Immediately, and ever since, my FNX has never suffered a hiccup since. Some others will suggest leaving your slide locked back for a week, but I cannot verify this nor did I find it necessary.

Thanks for the replies guys more I read its like what you are saying needs to be broken in,also going to try locking the slide back for awhile and see if that helps

That's good because having an fte every round sucks

That is one of the steps for a brand new FNX. Lock the slide back and load the magazines for a week.

Mine shot perfect out of the box.

FN's need to be lubed liberally during break in.
Put a drop or two on the barrel block, then lock the slide to the rear and run a bead along the top of the barrel. Rack it a few times.
Lock the slide back again, turn it over and put a few drops on each side where the rails run. Rack it a few more times. You will be good to go.

We shot a friend's FNX-45 bone dry the first time he had it out to shoot. He had forgotten to lube it before hand, since that's usually the last thing he does when cleaning, and never thought to clean an unfired pistol. Thing didn't hiccup once. Ammo was either Federal or PMC, couple hundred rounds.

First time out I was ready to throw the piece of shit in the woods. Burned through 150 rounds and was feeling like I just pissed away $1100.00. Took it home, stripped it down and then cleaned and lubed it up wet. Next time out I wiped the excess spooge off of it and it shot a whole lot better. Third time out it ran flawless. Sucks that you have to waste a couple hundred bucks worth of ammo before a somewhat high end gun functions properly. My Sig Scorpion TB and Kimber match 1911's both ran flawless right out of the box. My Sig P938 ran great from day one while my P238 needed major work on the feed ramp to get it to chamber anything but round nosed ammo. Seems like these gun mfgs are all over the map when it comes to putting a good product out the door.

The only reason you waisted ammo is because you didn't read the manual before the first range trip.
