Im looking for a 2nd 22LR suppressor host/plinking pistol.

Currently Ive got a full sized M&P22 with a Burris FF2 on it that I use as a host/plinking pistol.

I ended up with a Sig 229 22LR threaded conversion kit after I sold the Sig 229 that it came with.
Im on the fence about building a dedicated 229 22LR suppressor host with it, but have kicked the idea around and have been looking for a cheap 229 to stick it on.

What says the hive:

Sell the Sig conversion kit and buy a different 22LR pistol or build a 229 22LR suppressor host?

If you think I should sell it, which suppressor host do you think I should buy?

Is the 229 a fixed bbl?

Smith and Wesson 422.

Due to the design it's an excellent host and allows the use of the sights with the can. Fixed barrel is key.

I'd sell and get one of the factory threaded Ruger 22/45's or Browning Buckmarks.

I use a 22/45 3" factory threaded.  Works well.

Not in centerfire, possibly in the 22LR version.

I'm very happy with my 22/45 LITE as a suppressor host.  My Spectre II looks like it was made for it.

As soon as my form 4 comes back I will have a very similar setup

This, either S&W 422/622/2206 series, or a Ruger 22/45 LITE.

SurplusAmmo.com's local store made me an awesome deal on a used Sig229 9mm  so I'll be going Sig229 22lr in the immediate future it appears.

It's patiently awaiting the Ryder 22-s.

I own several hosts for my .22 Sparrow including

SIG Mosquito (came with the can). Very unreliable without the can but functions 100% benefiting from the back-pressure generated by the can.

Ruger SR22 with factory threaded barrel

Ruger Mk.II with PAC-LITE upper

home built .22LR AR pistol

Keep the barrel length at 4" or under if you want to shoot the High-Velocity bulk pack. Otherwise, I shoot CCI "standard velocity" to keep it sub-sonic.

I think one of those Beretta 71 Mossad clones would be neat.

You DO know S&W no longer offers parts for these? Specifically firing pins?

If you only had 1, which would it be?

EKW does make firing pins, at least I think that's the name of the company. I used to have a 422, traded it to my dad since I had my MKII threaded. Great suppressor host when you get the adapter from EKW as well.

I have one of these from when I was a kid. How does one get it threaded. Internal threads at the muzzle with an adapter?
