Has anyone really seen one of the Walther PPQ .22LR handguns yet?

Are they really Walther or just another iteration of the Umarex guns?

I looked at the one they had on display at shot, it looked exactly like the regular PPQs, same polymer and texture, slide looked exactly the same externally, same appearance of finish, and trigger felt the same.

This. It is not an Ulm pistol.

Since Umarex owns Walther, they can call their .22lr's anything they want.

Since Walther makes the M&P .22 for S&W, why wouldn't they make PPQ .22?

Walther doesn't make that for S&W. Walther's parent company, Umarex makes it, and a lot of other .22lr's, then slaps the Walther name on it. It is legal, but these are not Ulm pistols.

Your link to the ad copy is for Walther Arms, which is co located in the Umarex USA office as a part of their air pistol and rifle sales and warranty office.

Per Mark Evan Thomas, Walther Arms Marketing guy, this, and all the other Walther .22 lr's, are made in Arnsberg.

Arnsberg = Umarex

All is not lost because many people like their M&P22.

The P22, P22Q, Colt 1911-22, PPK/S.22, P380 et al, however.....

Please.. tell me what's wrong with the 1911 .22s. They use the same design as the M&P22.

I watched a couple of videos from range day at the shot show on YouTube. I didn't see one of these guns that shot an entire mag without jamming. However, I'm sure they were pretty gummed up after a few hundred rounds.

I can shoot full mags without an issue all day long with my P22, it's a fun little gun.  That said, the S&W M&P22 is definitely a better .22 pistol.  The P22 is finicky, prefers good ammo and doesn't have the best record for durability but it's accurate (with good ammo) and fun and looks great so as long as you treat it well and don't drop every other mag it's a worthwhile purchase.

I'm curious to see if the PPQ 22 is better or worse, I do like the styling.

I have fired at least 5000 rounds through my new PPK/S .22lr suppressed and unsuppressed and have yet to encounter a stoppage.Seems to me to be a great, accurate little gun and I am very pleased with it. I have owned 3 of the original PPK/S 22s and ,while they are more elegant, they are also more ammo picky and cost 3 times as much. Just my 2cents but I am definately considering buying a new PPQ .22lr.....

Zinc

Aluminum above the frame.

Castings, not even MIM.

We are not asking for a Swiss jewel box or a pre-war Colt Ace.  We just want something that will stand up to 12,000+ rounds a year and numerous cleanings like your average MkIII, buckmark, or decent .22 target pistol of yesteryear.

Pretty simple.  We want quality.  And we are willing to pay for it.   But we WON'T pay for these junk guns.

I know it doesn't make any sense to some that we will not pay $400 for these, but happily pay $700 for a better made version, but to us, it does make perfect sense.

Seriously. If Umarex would just stick to aluminum slides they wouldn't have the problems they do. I suspect Smith and HK made it very clear to not skimp in places like that with them. Anyhow I'm pretty sure the Umarex M&P will be discontinued and Smith will produce a better version in house similar to their new compact which has a one piece steel barrel

I would much rather get a Ruger SR22 than anything made by Umarex.  Slightly more expensive, but made with a replaceable steel barrel and aluminum slide.

FYI, S&W just announced a new M&P 22 Compact model, made in the USA by S&W.

That or the SR22 would likely be better than any "Walther" 22 pistols. Shame, because I'd buy a P22 if they didn't use trash material for the slide.
