I've been wondering when someone was going to engrave a Raider.  Looks good.

My gunsmith did them with a computer controlled laser engraver. He is still learning how to use it but he did pretty good overall.

Hell…. I like my roll marks better than the actual Colts 😁

What was the most common holster used for the MEUSOC's?  Was it the Safariland 3005-53-161?

Depend on variants. Variant1 and early variant 2 use 3004/3005. Later transition to use 6004.

3004/3005 or 6004 would both be correct. 3004/3005 are hard to come by and command a premium if you ever seen one sold on eBay for $$$. So I would say, go with 6004-53-121 which is widely available and still in production. But the 6004 leg shroud piece evolved over time with different style/profile old vs. new. Just some detail I want to point out.

Old style shroud - suede covered

Current production shroud - not suede covered, and completely different profile

3004/3005 - no leg shroud and no fancy retention system like 6004. And single strap only.

Anybody know what is up with KC Kustoms website?  I was looking at parts the other day for a variant 2 clone. Went to buy them yesterday and the website is down with a login page only.

I noticed that the other day as well.
But I just went to his site and it's operating as usual.

I picked up a STI Spartan a few months back and then discovered MEUSOC 1911’s. I’ve accumulated the parts for a clone ‘in spirit’ of the original.  With the exception of sights it’ll be close.

MSH c lanyard loop
Ambi safety pinned style
Pachymar grips
3 hole trigger
GI rod n cap

It’ll be sprayed in Cerakote HIR 416 II graphite black which is a military specific color with a low heat signature that’s illegal in some countries.

I just scored a nice SA Operator slide so I ordered another Caspian MC serialized receiver to clone that late model MEUSOC pistol.

I’m pretty happy with them although I might refinish them again to get the slag out of the engravings a little better.

The triggers all break around 4.25lbs and the safeties are all solid with a crips click on and off. The slides and frames have a great fit and I thought he did a great job on the beavertails as well.

I’m waiting on Caspian to finish my receiver and slide to get my V4/5 underway. Tomorrow we are going to start on my Raider to get the Colt USMC clone engravings done and the refinishing.

I used the Tisas US Army ( govt marked one) 1911 model. It has the engravings already, is forged, and I didn’t mind adding the grip safety. A real govt model might be too valuable to do the modifications to….. just my $.02

Nothing wrong with the DW....looks great !!!!

Springfield Custom Shop built this one decade ago when they still accept full custom build with customer supplied pistol/parts. The SACS Director, Dave Williams, called me and said they can stamp SN# on the parts like 2112 did. I said go-ahead. Very happy with the result. Barrel was originally naked stainless steel when Springfield built it. Later had KC Kustoms blacken the barrel.

Lucky enough to snag a lone slide stop on eBay! More than I would have liked to pay though. The X300 fits nice but I’ll be looking for an older X200 now. Still need to order a KC slide stop for the 610. 610 will live on the variant 2 when finished. I just realized my MP5 light head fits it, I had bought just the housing.

Just got a call on my 2 Caspian MC serialized frames and they are in the final stages. I also have a fitted slide for one of them with the EGA on the L and R rear of the slide and USMC engraved in front of the ejection port. The other MC frame will be used for my SA Operator slide I found online. They should be shipped out this week if I'm lucky then I can get my LGS on the engraving and the assembly.

Sent my Variant 5 build off to Valor Precision.

Also a heads up for anyone else doing a Variant 5, the newer Ed Brown thumb safety is much different than the older version that was used on the actual MEUSOC guns. I missed this when i was collecting parts, so i figured it might help someone else not make the same mistake.

Here’s how Nick at VP explained it to me:
“The older one has a leg that trapped under the grip panel where as the newer more robust design utilize a cross pin design. Additionally, the newer Ed brown safety on the right side, has a small (1/2) size “plate”.

Wilson Combat makes a similar style one that i’m planning on using as a stand-in.

Didn't realize Ed Brown discontinued the older ambi. Although not exact, klonimus Ambidextrous thumb safety paddle shaped more like Brown's than Wilson's. But the unit is MIM (just saying as some hate MIM).

The vast majority were A1s. I know of one wwi frame build anecdotally. I also remember seeing a photo of a PWS built M45 without the A1 cuts, but that might have been a personal build.

Hey fellas, I need help with valuing a pistol toward a possible trade.

I had this pistol built at PWS as a gift to myself when I EAS'ed from the Corps in 2008. It's been a nice keepsake, but I've never really placed any monetary value on it, nor am I well versed in 1911 culture. Barrel is a Bar-Sto.

Valor starts at $3250 plus parts.

https://valorprecision.com/1911-meusoc/

KCs is $3800 for a Gen 4.  Not sure what that includes.

https://kcskustomcreations.com/meu-soc-variations-and-price-list/

If you can document yours being built at PWS, those would probably be good starting points.

Nice gun!

Thanks for the awesome information! I can certainly prove that it was built at PWS. I wish I had a data book, but I have the emails from way back between me and the armorer who built it.

I mainly asked because I may be getting my hands on an M1911 that basically has no real collector value left and if it was something actually done I might want to turn it into an early MEU(SOC) build (I really like the early configurations).

My advice counts for nothing but …. that was one hell of a nice gift to yourself for your USMC time and service.

If it shoots and runs fine, I’d keep it (if it were me). There’s something to be said for keepsakes. You can always make it a legacy gift to a family member down the road.

Not Oki. Not even a high speed unit. Just leftovers that haven't been turned in for disposal yet the armorer said.
