Sacrificed the Loaded to get into this, but I'm thinking it was a good move.

So you went for it.  That's a beautiful pistol.  I think I remember some of the xperts saying the TRP is the best of the springies.  Not sure if that's correct or not, but I don't think you can go wrong with that one.  I like it.

It's a noticeably more refined pistol than the loaded was. I am extremely impressed with it so far, I must acquire more .45 tomorrow before Sundays range trip 150 rounds of ball ain't going to cut it.

With that said - the loaded mattered where it counted: accurate and RELIABLE. Until this exhibits the same reliability that the loaded did, I won't say it's a "better" pistol.

Took out this new to me S&W scandium commander for a test run and the grips the previous owner made for it fell off after about 30 rounds! It'll take a lot more than that to stop me from enjoying a range trip though

I've got some VZ grips on order so it won't happen again

It is one sexy firearm. Is there any particular reason that you don't like them? any bad experiences to share?

Not really, I owned a custom II awhile back, it's a fine gun, just don't particularly care for their drop safety they use.

Just picked this up for $508. Been thinking about another commander for a while but wasn't really looking too hard. First non-Colt I've owned (youngest son has a Remington R1 tho)

Definitely CCW friendly IMO. Just brushing up against the grips doesn't grate on you like other VZs I've got. But when you grip them your hands fill out the frag pattern and stick like glue

Didn't feel like rummaging through the basement looking for the S&W hard case, so I stuffed the pistol in the M84. It gets used as a range bag more than for actually wearing the gun, I have a homemade IWB holster for actual carrying.

I wasn't trying to accuse you of using outdated and un tactical equipment, fwiw.  LOL.  I always wanted one of them holsters for my M9 and 1911's for the range and whatever else. I have a belt and suspenders from that era and always thought that stuff was cool.  I know there are more up to date choices now though.
