Looking at purchasing a Dan Wesson Specialist in stainless very soon.

LGS quoted me about $1630.
Found one on buds for about $1500 and some similar prices on gunbroker.

Any other places I should be looking before pulling the trigger?
I had a Springfield TRP Operator in full rail but sold it :(
I heard that these two 1911's compare pretty well. Just trying to decide whether I want it in 45 or 9mm

I've seen them as low as $1299 on Gunbroker, but that doesn't include shipping or 3% CC fee. Then you've got transfer fee on top of that.

I'd look around on some of the forums like 1911addicts.com

Sometimes DW has "blem" models that can be discounted pretty heavily.



The Specialist is a nice gun, I've got one coming my way in 10mm.

I bought a new BLEM  DW Bruin in .45. for $1529 off GB.
The blem was an ever so slight discoloration on the recoil plug.
I've had a bunch of 1911s and Springfield Armory is good bang for the entry level buck. I think we get proportionally better bang for the buck with Dan Wesson with better materials and better fit & finish.
My Nighthawk is even better. Its an excellent pistol but Im not sure if its a $3000+ pistol.

$1500 for a DW Specialist is about as cheap as you'll find.
