I was wanting to purchase a 1911 soon and was curious to everyone's opinions about Ruger's 1911s.

Buy an RIA, you will get the same quality for 2/3rds the price.

I have 2, the 5 inch and the 4 1/4 - both are great shooters with no problems. Both guns actually shoot my cast bullet reloads, a 185 grain semi wadcutter very well.

I like mine.

I'm a Glock guy but thought it was un-American not to own a 1911.

I picked it up in May.  It shoots well and have had no problems.

Do it, you shouldn't be disappointed. Mine was one of the first batch made, other than the front sight issue those had (which Ruger was great to deal with on) I had absolutely no issues. Loved it, but I sold it to fund a FNX-45T. Now I'm 1911 shopping again but I want a rail and threaded barrel, if Ruger made a tactical version like that I'd be all over it!

If you want an all American made 1911, go for it. for a little more coin though there are IMO "better" offerings, but aren't 100% American made. Just depends on how much that's worth to you, it is by no means a bad pistol. But imo Springfield offers a better pistol for just a little more coin.

I would spend a couple dollars more and get the springer GI. Or loaded.

I like em.  Wear either one of these when doing the casual thing at work....

I bought a Ruger SR1911 few months ago. I posted about it having a feeding problem right out of the box(in factory condition). Turns out it was a ammo problem, the projectile was a odd shape and caused feeding issues. I have had not one issue since and have fired a few hundred rounds.

I bought the standard version SR1911. I did replace the really nice wood grips with some cheap Magpuls, just to keep the factory grips in new condition. On a side note a really like the Magpul grips. They have a relief in the mag release that made a huge difference.

If I have one complaint about the SR1911 is it came in a cardboard box, that's the best I can do as negative comment. I cant understand why a 700 dollar pistol would have a cardboard box.

I should mention this is/was my first 1911 style pistol and I am not disappointed with it at all.

I bought the full sized a few years ago. At that time that was the only size made.

I loved it so much I gave it to my son in law when the kids moved to Georgia a couple years ago.

I've had mine for a few years now, and I absolutely love it. It will start getting carried a lot more often now that the weather is getting cooler.

I've had the full size for a couple years and the commander size for about six months.  Neither have had any issues at all...

I've got a case of ammo through mine already (all different weights, FMJs and JHPs).

Just got it back from ADCO.  I'll take it out for a spin next week when I return to work.  I only have 147gr and 165gr FMJ to test with the suppressor.

I really like mine. I probably shoot it more than any other gun in my collection, which is several times a week. I am now looking for one of the light-weight commander size.
It is stock, except for the VZ grips and a replacement recoil spring.

I had two of them, one was the lightweight Commander and the other was the railed full size.   Both were good guns, I can't say anything bad about them really.  In my opinion they're better than Kimbers, not as good as Dan Wessons and pretty similar in quality to Springfield 1911's.

My SR1911 Talo has been great since day one.  No issues whatsoever, very happy with it.

A Commander SR1911 is in my carry rotation.

That said I also have an older Rock Island in my collection.  For the money those are hard to beat.  They just plain work.

My wife bought me one for our 15th anniversary.  My first comment was: You finally get it!

Looks like I won't be able to get rid of it though.  It is a good pistol.
