$1500 give or take a little. I would prefer a rail and night sights.  I have owned a Springfield loaded champion, colt commander, and a sig tac ops.  The tac ops was by far the easiest and most accurate for me.  I have been looking at the trp operater and colt rail guns.  I do not like the adjustable sights on the trp however it does come with night sights and the checkered front on the maxwell.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  This will be used a nightstand and ranch gun.

I currently own all of the guns and agree, my Sig is the best shooter for me out of the above. Although I like my TRP Operator a ton, it is a bit too bulky for me to carry and remains in my home unless I am heading to shoot.
One gun not mentioned and it may be found very close to your budget is the Dan Wesson Specialist. It is the best of all worlds for me and a solid choice.
If you are hellbent on the TRP and hate the sights like most when ccw,  just change the sights out with Harrison sights and you will be good to go.
The best of luck.

A gently used Les Baer would be my choice (and has been).

Thank you both for the replies.  I will start taking a look at the Dan Wesson Specialist.

I can not comment on Springfield ( never owned one) but I have owned les Baer and while they were great my current go to in 1911's is a colt m45A1.

I bought my Colt M45A1 for $1600 OTD. I love this damn pistol! Has night sights and a rail. Does not come with front strap checkering but I don't think that's  big deal anyhow. The grips are very grippy so you don't need the frontstrap checkering imo.

Thanks for everyone's advice.  I picked up a Specialist for $1749 OTD today at a gun show.  Haven't shot it, however it's definately better built than any of the other 1911's I have owned.
