I liked mine.  Never had a malfunction, but not a very high round count

Gave my ex-wife one as a wedding present.

Got it back in the divorce.

If you get one do you by chance want to buy some pink VZ grips?

And the short motherfucker can shoot!

I have had mine since November.  I found one at the LGS when I was there to put a rifle on consignment, and when I saw it, I had to have it.  For me, this is the perfect carry pistol.  It is light, built to very close tolerances, accurate right out of the box, and with about 300 rounds through it, the trigger has become the second best I have ever encountered.

The thing that impressed me most about my pistol is quality of construction.  It is as well put together as most Dan Wessons I have seen.  I would buy this pistol again in a heartbeat.

LOL no.

It is a factory job with tons of burrs, friction points and ok (for a 1911 trigger) as they come.

Its a good option for a 4" and a damn fine built one at that but don't expect Dan Wesson out of it.

I have owned 2 DW pistols, a Valor and a Heritage.  The Valor was peerless in its quality.  The Heritage was a few steps down the ladder.  Before buying those, I had looked at quite a number of DWs, so I am familiar with the line.  The reason why I bought this Springer is because its quality was exceptional, better than any LW Champion I had seen, and it has lived up to my expectations.

Since that is hard for you to believe, I'll give you another one.  The best 1911 trigger I have ever shot is on my box stock Kimber Eclipse that currently has about 13,000 rounds through it.  The Valor was good, but not that good.

Bud's Guns has them new right now for $866.00 2/28/2015 so if it's in good shap, thats not a bad price for a really good gun.

I love mine. Been carrying it daily for almost 3 years now. Guns had 2500-3000 rounds through it and the only problems I had out of it was a couple bad reloads. It's one of a few guns I WOULD NOT get rid of period.

I carry the heck out of mine.

It's not as accurate as the MC. I'm not sure if that's due to the shorter sight radius, or if the design is inherently less accurate. Still a great gun.

Great weapon had one for years and my brother in law finally talked me into selling it to him. Replaced it with a DW Guardian which is great but every time I put it into my holster I am thinking of the Champion. You will not be disappointed.

Generally speaking, I am a Colt guy when it comes to 1911's, although I have owned some made by others to include Dan Wesson (early prototype Pointman Major in 10mm with a serial number lower than 60).
I recently picked up a Springfield Champion Operator, and I am absolutely loving it. The build quality is outstanding in my opinion. For the features offered, I don't think it can be beat at the price they sell for. Even as a Colt fanboy, I have to give Springfield Armory credit. The build one hell of a 1911, with great specs, at a price that is fair. Mine will be going to their excellent custom shop soon for some front strap checkering.

One thing more I will say about it.  If the original kit is included, do not use the holster.  It will eat through the Armory Kote finish.

" />" />Scrubmaster I see you live in the Show Me. If your around St. Louis Otto Comp does great work on 1911's. He did the front strap checkering on my Champion Operator and it turned out great. I will see if I have a Picture and post it.

Your Wilsons should be fine. I think it's only the old-style steel followers that can gouge the feed ramp.

Excellent choice! You are going to love that pistol. As much as I really never cared for the looks of a rail on a 1911, I can honestly say that my Champion Operator has quickly become my favorite handgun. Pretty darned nice for a production 1911.

Don't these pistols have a ramped bbl?
My Lt.Wt. Loaded Springer has a ramp.

Yep, SA website says it has a ramped bbl.
That said, i mostly run Novaks,or Mecgar's in my alloy frame 1911.

JM custom kydex IWB V3 ordered!

Turns out if you want a full kydex rig - they can do them. Tony said to order the 5" and put its for a 4" in the comments section.

SA CO 10-8 by bhappycattle, on Flickr

I absolutely love my Champion Operator. I grabbed mine from the first dealer I could find that had one in stock when they first came out. After 400-500rds, went with a 10-8 rear and S&A Slim magwell and never looked back, coming on 2K rounds and never a hiccup. I run Wilson 47D's exclusively in it and have never had any problems. have a couple Wilson 47T's for special occasion here and there too.

this little bugger can shoot!

Shot 300 rounds this morning in the rain.

- 150 rounds of Tula FMJ
- 50 rounds of Prvi FMJ
- 50 rounds of Federal Aluminum FMJ
- 50 rounds of Remington Golden Saber JHP

Recoil is not nearly what I thought it would be and was soft for the 4" barrel. Accuracy was outstanding!

I will order a 10-8 rear sight for it in the next week or so - this way it will have the same sight picture as my TRP and I prefer a black rear to a 3 dot.

ETA: pics - forgive the iphone pics - it was raining and I didn't feel like dragging my camera stuff out

10 yards slow fire

Very nice. Seems you are making it yours rather quickly. Mine remains bone stock with the exception of a Streamlight TLR-1 HL weapon light that I picked up for it yesterday. On the hunt for a holster that will allow the pistol to be carried with light mounted. I love my Champion Operator. Congrats on yours... Looking great!
