Only 1911 I've ever owned was a RIA years ago which I've since sold. Lately I've had two things I want to fill in my pistol collection - a 1911 and a 10mm, so why not knock out two birds with one stone? I know STI makes great guns, so any reason not to get the Nitro 10?

The only reason I can think of is that it's not part of their top-tier offerings, not to say that it's a bad gun by any means, but the ones that are in the ~$1900-2400 range are noticeably better fit.  I have two STI 4.0 SS Tacticals.

I'd either get the Perfect 10 (2011 yay but 6" barrel nay) or for a ton of 10mm offerings, check out Wilson Combat.  I really wish there was a 5.0 Tactical Single Stack in 10mm.

$1500 is already pushing what I ever thought I'd spend on a pistol - those prices are just not going to happen for me, it's way outta my price range. lol

Well, if that's the case I HIGHLY doubt you'd be disappointed in the Nitro 10.  So, I guess in summary, if I had more money I wouldn't get the Nitro but that's the only reason.  If they made one that was about $1800/1900 I'd suggest saving, but they don't.

Dan Wesson makes a pretty nice 10mm

I'd want a little more grip on the frontstrap instead of a couple shallow grooves if I planned on shooting much full power 10mm.

Sure the Perfect Ten is a very, very nice 1911 but all STI are nice, even the least expensive of them all.

That STI Nitro 10 is an absolutely gorgeous gun in my opinion and you can bet your butt it'll run like a scalded ape.  I have a Perfect Ten on my wish list but I also have a Nitro 10 on the same list.  I already own an STI Elektra and it has flat out spoiled me, if I get a 10mm, I definitely want an STI.

If you found anything about an STI Nitro to complain about I'll be shocked.  If you have the cash, want a 10mm 1911, you really can't do better, at least not without spending a whole lot more money.  I'm jealous, I would love to have a Nitro.

It's really, really ugly.

Does Les Baer make a 10?

The Nitro 10 is built the exact same way your tacticals were built...
The Nitro is a great gun and shoots awesome! I only have 150 rounds through mine, but it has been flawless. My Perfect 10 has close to 1000 rounds through it. It is by far my favorite handgun. They both handle full power loads with ease. The 6" barrel on the perfect 10 is ideal for the 10mm.

The 1911 platform is a classic (though I am not a fan of bull barrels) but if you are looking for a 10mm, Id just get a Glock 20 or 29.  Also, Sig is releasing a few 10mm P220s in 2015.  One of them is supposed to come in Single Action Only (look for SAO models).  I had an STI Spartan in 45 that was a great little gun but ultimately I sold it.   If you just have to have a 10mm 1911, then get the STI.  If you want a reliable (and low maintenance and only 1/3 the cost...etc.) 10mm, get the glock.

Btw, STI mags for odd calibers (like 10mm) are going to be way harder to find and cost more

Looks like they'll make a .400 CorBon.

I bet you could get a 10mm if you asked nice.

Those serrations I can live with.  Needs a little machine work behind the trigger-guard.
Nice looking gun.
