Traditional two-tone guns, blued slides on top of hard chromed frames, continue to be one of my most favorite configurations to build. This gun was somewhat of a long-term project and one in which I got to basically do what I wanted and pick the details I desired in order to turn this ‘70’s era Colt into a full-house custom.
The gun got a weld-up frame and slide fit, Kart barrel fit to an EGW slide stop and barrel bushing, S&A grip safety swinging on a ‘BM’ style thumb safety, re-profiled Heinie rear sight, Wilson Combat ignition set, and short length solid trigger. Additional modifications include flattened and serrated slide top, hand-cut 30lpi checkering front and rear, ball-cuts on the slide, hand-filed beveled mag-well, complete line straightening, lowered and flared ejection port, serrated rear of slide, the aforementioned two-tone finish, and a set of double diamond G10 stocks from my pals at VZ Grips.
