Alright I admit I am a gun nut for the 1911 plat form. Today I stopped at the LGS and found a S&W 1911 scandium framed performance center gun in their used gun counter. Gun looks new except one small scratch about an 1/8th inch on the dust cover.

I have lusted over this model but could never afford a new one.

I have most of the cash but would have to trade one of 2 guns I currently own. Just saving to pay cash for a new one is also an option.

The two I have to trade are

1. H&K USP 45 compact with night sights. Good shooter but a little thick for concealed carry. 4 mags.

2. Sig P220 two tone with night sights. good shooter with 6 magazines.

what would you do?

Dam this 1911 disease.

Trade the HK and I say this as a P220 hater. The P220 is a better gun.

Well after sitting down and comparing the two, I have decided the hk will be traded.

Reasons:

I never carried the hk concealed even though I have a milt sparks holster.
I have only three mags for it. When comparing to my Springfield xd. They are nearly dimensionally the same. The xd fits the hk holster like a glove and gives me more rounds carried.

The sig 220 is an ex-dps carry gun. I have more mags then you can shake a stick at. And it completes the sig family I have.

As far as how I shoot both, I hit center about the same with both.

I have had the hk since it came out. Very good gun but I think it is time to go if the smith is still at the gun shop.

Good choice. The HK Compacts never caught my interest. They really aren't compact and the capacity has always been on he lower end.

If you're selling the HK to a private individual, go for it.  If you're going to use it as trade fodder to the gunshop.... hang onto it and save your money for the S&W.
Either way... get that Scandium 1911!

I would trade the pistol with one mag and sell the extra mags - makes the deal a little easier to take.

Keep the sig, I've had 2 HKs (USP 45 Tactical and USP 9SD) that I wasn't too impressed with. I have two sigs (1911 Tac Ops and MK25) that I love.

Trade the HK unless you wanna keep it.  I like HK firearms, still have my .45 Tac, but I couldn't really find a use for the compact.  It was reliable and accurate but Just a bit too big and thick.  I don't regret selling it.
