Started out as a 5" Springfield with stainless slide and alloy frame.

I picked it up for a great price from a guy at local store that takes good care of me.

Obviously had surface scratches but looked like it had very few rounds down the tube.

Ramped barrel to protect the alloy frame and the lightweight caught my eye.

Dropped it off at my smith for some work to improve handling and cosmetics.

10-8 rear U-notch sight paired with XS tritium front. I requested the smaller XS front but he installed the Big Dot... swapping me out in a week when smaller one comes in.

10-8 flat trigger and trigger job.

Checkered front strap and under trigger guard Wilson main spring housing.

Flush cut slide stop, remove anti-safety and replace with Wilson single side.

Deep cut muzzle crown and fitted EGW bushing.

Refinish in Duracoat.

Wolfe Springs and a few other touches.

So what do you think....?

I put about 250 rounds of FMJ and hollowpoints through it yesterday and it runs 100% and very accurate.

Nice lightweight carry gun.

Great looking pistol. I don't care for the trigger personally, but...different strokes...

Enjoy your new gun!

This may be a odd question...but, did he refinish the all of the internals of the gun? Like the frame rails, whole pins, ect?

Nice - huge improvement.  Love the grips.  Hope the Duracote holds up - I wonder if it would hold up with holster use?

I wasn't sold on the 10-8 flat trigger when I first saw it.

Shot one...... Now I wish a couple of other guns had it.

I have large hands and for whatever reason the trigger gives me a crisp break directly to the rear.

Refinished inside and out from what I can tell.... Good question though I'll look closer.

Forgot to add that the VZ Grips, Wilson MSH and checkering really made all the difference in controlling the gun at speed.

When I shot the gun before the work the combination of  lightweight  frame and smooth texture was no help.

Now it locks in great.

Nice gun....

I don't have much free time to do competitions anymore but when I do I use Glocks since it's what I carry for work.

That pic made me miss some of my 1911s I've traded off years ago.

Might be my favorite cosmetic addition.

It may serve some purpose I don't know about (protecting the crown) but I think it looks cool as hell.

The offset color gives the business end a look like its .60 caliber....

Looks like some practical mods to me. Checkering makes a big difference, as you noted. I think that was a great decision. Nice looking, too!

Ray Saltzman in Tipton, IN

Great guy, fair pricing and turn around time.

Looks nice. Wish I had a good gunsmith in Miami. I just can see spending so much money on just shipping alone.

I've used Karl Sokol in VT for years...

Shipping sucks but in the big picture it's worth it in the end.

Lucky to have a solid local guy now.

Yes. He recessed it and I really like it.

Always felt weird touching or putting pressure there with trigger finger straight.

Obviously in my head.... But I like it better this way.

Yes sir she is a sweety you have there......I don't like the looks of the flat trigger either but i might be just like you ,if I ever try one I might like it....Never know.....Love the VZ's I am thinking about getting me some ETC-FRAG's in black/gray G10's myself......And make sure to report back about how the duracoat holds up for you.....Most reviews I have read people prefer cerakoat over duracoat but there is alot of "coats" out there to pick from!

I have used Ray Saltzman, more than once for 1911 and AR work and he is top notch and a great guy to deal with. It, also, doesn't hurt when he is only three miles from my home.
OP, VERY nice pistol.

I've had it out to the range twice since the pics....

Great gun and great accuracy.

Not a carry gun for me since I'm restricted on SA guns with job but it does ride in the truck some.

So far so good on the Duracoat though.

Next is a railed TRP to go with my non-railed TRP.

Tough to beat Springfields
