Who all still carries a S&W J frame for EDC, back up, or occasional carry. Pics welcomed!

642 with crimson trace grips in a uncle mikes pocket holster. Goes everywhere with me

360 in the right front pocket......wallet in the left front pocket

638. It easily fits in the front pocket of khakis. It's accurate, inexpensive, reliable, and rugged enough.

My girlfriend carries a black 442 in her purse at all times.
I enjoy plinking with it whenever possible. |
|
340PD has been retired since I got my Shield, but It does come in handy for a quick trip.
Usually right front pocket in a Desantis pocket holster. Or in center console of my truck while G19 or Shield are on the belt, typically on road trips. |

The J-frame S&W has been put away in favor of an Ruger LCR five years ago.
Been carrying a snubby for forty eight years now. |

S&W 642 with a bobbed hammer and Hogue grips in a pocket holster for right front pocket.
I grab this when I run to the corner store |

340PD, usually in my pocket. The noisy cricket is not to be trifled with.

My first two years of carrying I first carried a Colt DS and then a 442. I switched to a G26 this winter. But I like the snubbies. Especially the 442. I like the G26 a lot better though.

On occasions keep my 340PD with CT grips handy. Mostly as a back up gun though.

I have 3 J-Frames. One in each frame style.
One is a Centennial framed 442. Another is a Bodyguard framed 438 and the third an older Mod 60 traditional hammered frame. I've been keeping my eyes open for a good deal on an older Mod 38 Bodyguard at a good price in good shape because I really prefer that frame style. I have a nice Garrity Gunleather holster and a FIST K1 ultra-thin kydex holster and a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. The Garrity gets the most carry time due mostly to it's having a sweat guard and slightly thinner profile with the offset clip. I rarely pocket carry. J-frames are the best "small" guns IMO. Cheers! -JC |

I love j frames.
I used to carry my 638 all the time. I traded it to my uncle for a GP100 (he was going to make the same trade to a gun store, he didn't care about the value just wanted something small and light). I picked up an LCP to replace it as my deep concealment / backup. I love the LCP but not having a j frame is like not having a part of my soul. |

Carry a 637, either in the pocket or Galco Ankle Glove holster.
|
|
442 Pro. Carried appendix at 12:30.
For years, I shunned these guns as being obsolete. Now, this is the one gun that goes everywhere I do. If a different gun gets holstered as my primary the J still gets to tag along. I've only owned this 442 for about two years but in that time it's logged more holster time than guns I've owned for decades. |
|
M&P 340 in a Pocket holster or Galco Summer Carry IWB only occasionally though.
|
|
442 no lock as an on duty back up or off duty primary. Most of the time now though I carry my Glock 43 off duty. I will never stop carrying it as BUG and if I do it will only be because I purchased another.

Occasionally pocket carry my S&W 442. It has taken a backseat to my now favorite pocket carry gun the SIG P938 but it does get some love from time to time.

638 with Crimson Trace grips in a pocket holster. Replaced for most duties a couple years ago by a 9mm S&W Shield.

Don't have pic, but I carry an old-school Model 38 Bodyguard. I also have two old Charter Arms "Undercover" models that are J-frame-ish.

Regularly carry a J frame. I have 8 of them, so I mix them up and carry them at different points.

I'll admit this wasn't my first choice. This thing was only $7 or $8 and I looked down my nose at it a little when I first picked it up. It's made from a soft neoprene type material with no hard edges. I just measured it and my 442 with a micrometer. The 442 is 1.3" across the cylinder. In the holster, not counting the belt clip, it measures 1.5". |

I have a 442 that I will use as a minimalist carry. Like gym shorts around the house at night. I use a clip on the gun with no holster when I do that. Sometimes it goes in my back left pocket in a cheap uncle mikes pocket "holster". My primary carry guns are Glock 26, 19 or SIG p320. But the j frame will always have a place.

S&W 637 is my off-duty 99% of the time. Simple pocket carry, 130-grain Rangers, one reload in a strip.
