I recently bought 2 Shields, one for me and one for my wife. I also picked up an XDS and all are in 9mm. One Shield runs flawless and one is a F****** piece of garbage that jams all the time. The XDS is also flawless. Just wondering what the general consensus is on these 2 small pistols? I'm having a hard time deciding which design I like more. They both have pros and cons. The trigger is much better on the XDS and it just feels more solidly built. The Shields slide stop is better placed farther forward and is more thumbs forward grip friendly for my hands as my thumb does not ride the slide stop like it does on the XDS with the stop farther back on the frame.
Overall I think I like the Shield a bit more but find myself thinking the XDS is the better built gun and more trust worthy because I'm only 1 in 2 for the Shields I have bought. The turd is heading back to S&W this week for warranty repair but I have little faith it will come back to me working 100% after talking to other owners with defective Shields.

So what do you guys think?

Smith's customer service is really good and it will come back working 100%.

Before the "safety less" Shield came out I would rather have had an XDs...now that isn't the case.

I have the XDS in 9mm and .45 and enjoy shooting them.  They just feel solid.  I shoot the .45 very well.  That being said, when I have held the Shield it felt cheaper made (it is cheaper in price if I remember right).  I have not shot one though.

IMO, the PPS is the best single stack 9mm on the market. I'm also a big Glock fan and would  still take the PPS over the 43.

Trigger is better on the XDS.  Down side is it has one of the most uncomfortable grips on a handgun I have ever felt.

Right now I'd go with something else. Didn't care for the XDS I shot and the Shield reports are becoming a concern.

I would choose the S&W.

I would sell the POS Shield and get a Glock 43 or another XDS. The shield just feels cheap to me.
