I traded a govt. model Riger SR1911 with 150rds down the pipe plus $100 for a brand new Glock 17L. What do you think?

I think you need to change your screen name to glocknick.

Naah...you're good OP...

GSL was apparently abused by a Glock as a child so he hates all things Glock.

You did fine.

I'm not the one emotionally attached to an inanimate object and gets butthurting whenever anyone say's they have lost faith in Glocks, guy.

I personally wouldn't have made the trade but... if your happy then thats all that matters.

I don't think you got the better end  of the deal, but if you are happy that is what matters.

I got my G17L brand new for $599, I cant find a Ruger 1911 for that price.

I suppose that dollar for dollar, it may have been a losing trade.  As for me, I'm not interested in Ruger 1911's.

They may shoot great, and I have no experience with one, but much of my interest in guns is what I want.  Sometimes what I want is based on objective fact, and sometimes it's truly subjective.

I've culled what I consider turds from my collection a few times, and a Ruger 1911 would be one.  Wouldn't matter how great it shot...I just don't want one.

So, I might be willing to lose a couple hundred $$$ to have what I want.  I get that.  I also get that, objectively, it makes no sense to others.

GJ op.

17L is a cool pistol.

Squeezing everything out of the 9mm with that 6 inch barrel

Good trade

The ruger is Just a cast 1911.  Nothing special.

And it's front sights break because they are cheap castings too.

The 17L is awesome

I would never have done it but if you got what you wanted it was a good swap

The Ruger is a decent 1911 but nothing special. That made the trade easy for me. You don't see 17Ls very often and it's a cool gun.

You did good OP, 1911s are heavy and old.  Glock is light and gold.

I don't mind Glocks, but I am just not that big of a fan of shooting them. I would have made that trade, though, just based on the fact that you don't see many of them in the wild.

17L is harder to acquire than the Ruger 1911.  I think you did ok.  Not a Grand Slam for either party but you got a nice gun you didn't already have.

New SR1911 is around $600.  Not sure what a 17L is worth.  Not sure I would have made the trade but if you're happy with it rock on.

Upon a review of prices, I think OP was pretty close to an even trade. Ruger 1911's have gotten really cheap.

PSA had 17L's a few weeks ago.

This. IMO value wise you didn't make out too well. But if you are happy who cares?

Not my ideas of a good trade.  But if it makes the OP happy, that's all that counts.

So you gave CASH and a functional 1911 for a GLOCK?  Sounds like you got hammered

At best, it should have been a straight across trade. But if you're happy......

Minus the cash and is have done the trade

Only ever seen one 17L in my life and they wanted like 750$ for it

The trade was done at a gun shop so you can't expect them to do an even swap. I think I did fairly well and now have a better firearm in my opinion.
G17L> Ruger SR1911

I was going to say the trade would have been OK without the cash; but being a gun store I understand. I probably would not have done it; but I'm not a big fan of Glocks.
