If you never held an alloy in your hand you seriously do not know what your missing.  Weighs almost the same a glock19.

They look nice.  They hold up okay on a steady diet of regular pressure loads?  I know not to shoot +P in a high power.

Mine still hasn't shipped. Come on man! I'm desperate for Hi Power! AIM usually takes a couple days. Maybe tomorrow, fingers crossed. Don't care if it takes a week as long as they send me a good one with handpicked option.

Oh you got a nice one compared to many other Alloy HP's!   Next step if it were mine would be to replace all the springs, and especially if nothing else the recoil spring and firing pin spring.

I was having a bad day when I picked this alloy up and thought she was a bit rough for a HS option. Then I cleaned her and, "Oh Damn! She sexy!" Ordering a set of replacement springs and will eventually change the grips. Love her character and how she feels in hand. Think it pushed me to be a BHP nut.

Picked my up from the FFL today!  1987 Hi power. Browning roll-marks instead of FN, which I though was pretty neat.

Those are the recoil and firing pin springs in the photo that came out of the gun, I installed the wolff springs before reassembling and firing the gun.

Post pics!

My HS isn't too bad all things considered.  More holster wear than I've seen on some.  The grips are also Pachmayr's with the finger grooves, but split along the backstrap section.  Planning on replacing them.  Of note, I did decide to change my firing pin spring and recoil spring before shooting with the Wolff pak.  Glad I did even though I'm not thrilled to incur yet another cost on my Hi Power.  Posted in the AIM thread, but just a reminder to tear down your pistols boys and girls.

She probably would've fired fine as it's been on an ongoing issue according to the wear, but it would've eventually been a problem.  You'll shoot your eye out, kid!

Here you go, I didn't take pictures of the internals either but you can tell this thing has been used heavily. I'm not saying I want to get rid of it as the gun has character and I get immediately attached even to my crappy guns but if I would have walked into a gun shop I would have chuckled at seeing a gun this beat up for ~$550 (cost + HS + ship + transfer fee). The thing is I haven't seen anyone online at this point say they didn't pay for HS and of those I have seen some real nice ones - I would like to see a shot of some non HS ones just to get an idea of how beat up those were.

The most bothersome things to me are the damaged rusted grip screws, and the terribly redone over rust finish on the slide, the frame also has a lot less finish than you would expect - at the front of the frame it has actually gone past finish wear and the frame is worn..

Oh, as you can see mine has a border patrol inventory control number and it also has a magazine with a non-matching number. On the off chance someone happened to get the magazine for GV A654 84, let me know and we can work something out. I have GV E 352 84 if anyone is looking for that.

Finally got to shoot my hi power this weekend.  I ran into a problem.

The slide was locking back with ammo still in the mag.  It was happening 2 or 3 times per mag.  Is this a common problem with a part that needs replaced or is it my grip?

Does anyone recommend a good visual reference to changing out all the springs? Including Mag Disconnect Safety?
Wolf Spring pack has arrived.

I actually like the Pachymar grip and ordered a new one for my alloy.
Realizing it needed "adjustments" to get over the lanyard ring i cut the old grip to shape from my MkIII and moved it to my alloy, then putting the new one on the MkIII. Careful these grip screws are brittle and I broke one :(

I will add pictures once I give each one a "matching" mag...
