I recently bought a CZ 75 SAO and to my surprise, it has a carbon steel (or at least blackened) barrel instead of the normal stainless barrel that my other CZs have.  Any idea when they switched to carbon steel barrels or coating them with a black finish?

They have never been stainless, they were simply in the white before, now they have a finish

They have done that for a long time. Mostly built for Police and Military, I am sure contracts call for blackened barrels.  They have an overrun of barrels, and put them in regular guns.  My 2003 vintage has one, although well worn now.
