Does anyone have experiences with Metro Arms? A friend has a 1911 Metro Arms that he is offering me for $500. Barrel doesn't look nasty and it feels ok in my hands.

I bought one FTF off a member here years ago... it has functioned 100% with everything I've fed it, from factory ammo to hand loads. Trigger is nice and crisp. I think $500 is a little high BUT they do get solid reviews.

Good to go and fit and function with no problems

I've got a hard chrome commander version and love it.  Buds is showing the 5 inch blue model for $478 shipped.  I have been looking around for a 9mm version locally for a while.  David

I love my Metro Arms Commander, but it's finicky with hollow points and I've been trying out different magazines to fix that. Awesome fit and finish.

I have a Metro Arms commander. I love it, but was having trouble with hollow points. I tried three different types of magazines. Then I read that they come undersprung from the factory. I put in a wolff spring kit with an 18# recoil spring. Working great now. I paid right around $500 new at the end of 2011.

I put the same 18 pound spring in my commander before I even fired it.  Stopped counting after 2000 rounds a few years ago.  Mine eats everything without issue.  Running Metalform Pro SS 8 rounds mags.  Not enough pics in the thread  David

I have a hard chrome commander in .45, put a 18lb wolff spring kit in it and it runs like a champ.  I also have a 9mm blued commander (bought for the wife).  Runs good but a few failures to go into battery.  Only put about 100 rounds through it so far so I haven't decided if it needs springs or not.  Time will tell.

I'm biased, as they are imported by the same company that bring Grand Power to the US.

However, putting my bias aside, I find that the fit and finish on the Metro Arms guns I've handled at the trade shows is very good.
I'll take a beating from some, but I think that they are at least as good as the STI 1911's if not better.
