Anybody have both the Echelon as well as a Hellcat or Hellcat Pro? I'm curious if the take down lever might be the same.

For anyone interested, the stock sights are too low for an acro but if you buy the “Delta Point sights” off the SA website they cowitness nicely

Thanks for the article.

Went past the thousand round mark this past weekend.  I'm really enjoying this thing.

If this had come out years ago.... I'd probable only own 2 glocks and be done with them.

Removed plate and finished up another 200 rounds.  Zero issues with any of the ammo from cheap 115 white box, 124 blazer, 124+P HST, 147 HST, 135+ Crit Duty, Sig 124 JHP.

Pistol seemed to prefer the 124gr stuff but that's just my opinion.  All grouped well.

Was irritated by the plate coming loose.  I called Springfield while on the range.  Got someone on the line immediately and they have new hardware on the way.

We'll see how it goes next trip out.  Need to decide on OWB holster now.

Just to follow up with this:

it happened again. I had lock tight(ed) the screws and got them as tight as they would go (do not have a torque driver) and waited about two weeks before shooting again.

less then 30 rounds in suppressed and they started to come loose again.
I think it's a combination of factors at play:

1: the screws are small and do not have enough threading to hold into place
2: shooting suppressed introduces a number of things.. different recoil impulses, increased pressure and overall weight/mass.

I have reinstalled the screws and used copious amounts of lock tight and will test again tomorrow if I get time.
However I think the long term solution is going to be for me to get off my ass and decide on an optic and just do it.. but I think the root cause is the size of the plate screws. They are just too damn short.

They are the ones that came installed on the gun.

do you reuse those screws when installing an optic? If so it could be I have an out of spec plate or screws..

like I said in my first post about the issue, I had seen reports of it happening but only a few and it was all people not yet using an optic and the thinking was they didn't tighten them down enough at the factory.

I didn't have an issue until 300 some odd rounds and using a suppressor.

I don’t own an Echelon yet but have been following this discussion with interest. I noticed that a number of vendors just recently got the 20-round magazines back in stock. Maybe Springfield is catching up with backorders. Joe Bob Outfitters seems to have a good price on them compared to other places I’ve seen. No tax and free shipping over $90 (3 magazines) makes it a good deal, in case anyone’s looking for them:

Springfield Echelon 20-Round 9MM Magazine - $36.95

I’ve only ordered from them once but had good, quick service.

As of yesterday - according to a Springfield rep - They have thin and fat grips coming, but no thoughts on different grip lengths.

Mags are also on backorder for pretty much everyone.

Not much of an update but…I had mentioned in my original post that I encountered the exact same issue during my first range session.  I properly tightened screws prior to going out but they still came loose after a few hundred rounds.  I called Springfield right then and was assured that replacement hardware was being sent promptly.

Well, a couple weeks went by and nothing had shown up so I called Springfield for an update.  Nothing shipped because parts were back ordered.  I was pretty irritated by that.  I told the rep that notification of some sort would have been nice and that I was waiting on the parts to get back to the range for more testing.  Screws finally arrived but still waiting on the pins.

Not impressed with customer service / support or parts availability at this point.  I really like the pistol but if screws continue to come loose on top of not being able to get simple small parts…I’ll abandon it pretty quickly.

ETA:  At this time I have no plans of adding an optic so I need the cover plate to function properly and remain tight and attached.  I shouldn’t have to worry about them working loose at any time.

That’s my worry with these. I’m used to the Glock platform where I can repair or modify anything I want myself without any issues with parts availability.

I was just thinking this exact thing when reading his follow up.
I have not received my replacement parts yet either. When you look on Springfields site, the only parts they really have are grip modules and mags.
No recoil springs, no replacement parts other than pins that are mostly back ordered.

It would do Springfield good to have a robust supply and variety of parts, grip modules, slides and any wear/service parts and the service parts should have been available on day one.

This is my first Springfield product since the XDs recall 10 years ago and I jumped on this platform because of the COG/Fire control unit. Hoping it turns into their version of the 365/320.

I mentioned in the Hellion thread they really could out due Sig with the Echelon and the Hellion.. with as easy as the barrel comes off that rifle and the solid pic rail on the top, they could market caliber exchange kits with a barrel and top rail since any optic is going to keep zero once removed and reinstalled. Unlike the MCX that requires a rezero when moving between barrels and calibers.

Here's to hoping this is just a minor growing pain.

My Glock G45, G47 and 43x are still very much my primary pistols.

I get the itch from time to time to try out other offerings.  I gave a variety of P320s a chance but gave up on that.  I’ve had a few different XDs over the years.  Actually an XD was my first pistol I ever purchased back when they first came out.

I handled the Echelon and really liked it based on that, the overall concept as well as initial reviews.  The plan was never for it to become a “replacement” for my Glocks but maybe a solid addition to the rotation.  I anticipated some slow rolling of modular parts like different grip modules and different configurations of slides and calibers etc BUT small critical parts should have been ready to go.  Mags should have been more readily available as well as the 20 round base plates.

I’ll give it a little more time since we’re nearing holidays but my patience or interest is limited.

Large frame with small insert and it fits perfectly in my paws.

Now just to get it to the range.

I’m curious how everyone is liking the dot and U sights vs. three dots, as I consider the two options. Not sure if anyone has had the chance to try both. I’m certainly used to three dots but also like the Glock Ameriglo Agent sights that have a U notch (with two dots). I’m thinking I might actually like the U notch with the white U blacked out. Thanks for any feedback you all can offer.

I don't think imgur gets along with ARFCOM when it comes to img tagging.

https://i.imgur.io/6eBhkTh_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium

The first is URL linking the URL and the second is IMG tagging.

Of course it shows up for me, but it could just be because I've already seen the picture and it's in my cache.

It fills the gaps in.

And are you using an RMR adapter plate that came with the EPS? Because the aluminum one I’ve seen them come with before has a pretty minimal thread engagement into an alloy plate, not ideal.

I am, and it too fills 90% of the gap in and sits the sights perfect (lower 1/5) for an unibstructed view. Got 800 rounds so far since install and witness marks havent budged. I didnt feel the need for an aftermarket plate unless something fails

Took the pistol out to the range today for first time since finally getting all the replacement pins and screws from Springfield.  I put approximately 300 mixed rounds through the pistol today and no issues with screws / cover plate coming loose.  Ammo included everything from cheap 115 gr to what I usually carry, 124+ HST.

I’ll run it a few more times before I consider the issue 100% good to go.

That's the same thing I found with XDm mags. The stack was just wide enough that the extra friction of lacquer/polymer coated cases would bind up in the tube.

I saw a few early videos of magazines coming apart but it appeared the floor plates were installed incorrectly.  I've beat the hell out of mine and was in on a range demo where we beat the hell out of them.  Haven't had a floor plate come off yet.

Only issues I was tracking…

1.  20 rnd mag floor plates.  I’ve never had an issue with the one that came with pistol or additionals I purchased.

2.  Optic plate / screws coming loose.  I did have this issue.  Took Springfield awhile to get me new hardware out but no issues since.

Ok.. i noticed when changing those, that the L shaped metal piece that drops in could easily be put in wrong.

I thought it was something operational with the pistol...

I haven't had anything operational wrong with mine.
my plate screws came off but Springfield replaced them.

I've enjoyed it. And I'm not a full size pistol kinda guy.
