On some models with the hammer down, you can engage the safety upwards enough that you cannot retract the slide. That's a big no no. Over sized or bent Ejector so you cannot retract slide smoothly (only heard this once). And razor sharp edges from the tang or beaver tail to the slide rails and other open areas on frame. All these small issues need addressed and I'm sure Springfield Armory will correct them. Trust me, I'm not slamming the SA-35 by any means. I've owned BHP's since the mid 80's and I'm in line for one once the bugs are worked out. Like most first run firearms there are sometimes problems. The SA-35 is going to be a winner I believe. |

LGS has seven on order one of which I reserved. Shop manager said Springfield is slow rolling them out due to a parts shortage. Don't know how true that is but I'll be glad when mine comes in.

I'm surprised the Springfield Armory rep who chimes in here at times has been silent on what the hold up is. |

I want one but maybe next year after the bugs are worked out and they are more readily available. I've wanted a high power for years now so will keep watching and waiting.

Stopped by the Sioux Falls Scheels today to pick up some SP5 mags and one of salesmen told me he had something I might be interested in. Went in back and came back with a SA35 which was extremely nice. Fit and finish was top notch. It was of course spoken for. He asked if I wanted to be out on the list for the next batch, and I said yes. These don’t even make it to the counter as they are all spoken for when they arrive.

I am waiting for Springfield to release a fully modernized model, ambi controls, rail under the barrel, slide cut for a micro size red dot as they fit the narrow Hi Power slide.

What's the current price range and availability now?
I'll be going to a small gunshow next weekend, don't expect to find one, and we'll hit a few shops on the way, but it would be good to have an idea of what people are buying them for. |

View Quote I ordered one in January through my local gun store. I paid $589 plus tax. Still haven't gotten it. The excuses I've heard are lack of parts and faulty firing pins. As long as time it is taking to get mine I hope they have all the bugs worked out by the time it gets here. PSA was selling them recently for 999. They are showing out of stock now. Most recent MSRP I saw was $699. |

Just slightly overpaid for one from the EE in the 5xxx number range but I’ve been coveting one for awhile and impatience costs money
I’ve played around with the idea of buying an FN HP (or variant) for the last 25 years but could never get past the aesthetics or the fact that a Tupperware gun does everything it could in a smaller package for less money. I guess my age is starting to show and my appreciation of metal and wood and classic design won over my wallet. Range report to follow |

Range report to follow View Quote The BHP-or the SA-35 at least-is smaller than a Glock 19 in every dimension but length. It's about half an inch longer. Link. The primary cons seem to be cost and weight. Aesthetics are subjective, I think the BHP is a very attractive handgun, but they both use 15 round magazines. Sure you can use the larger Glock mags, but Mec-Gar also made 20's for the Hi-power if we are including mags that aren't flush fits. IMHO it compares favorably with many compact pistols. |

Picked one up at my LGS today. Serial over 6000.

Sooo anyone mill one of these for a red dot yet?!

Finally got to shoot one of these yesterday; I was pretty impressed with the trigger. My grip is such that a normal BHP will bite me, the SA-35 hammer will contact the web of my hand and after enough magazines will probably wear it raw, but it is comfortable to shoot. I do wish the trigger had a bit less curve to it, but they got the safety right. It is a bit mushy, but strikes a good balance between being large enough to ride while shooting, and small enough to not be obtrusive.
I consider this handgun to be a must buy. |

Picked one up about 10 days ago. Serial number is close to 7,000. Paid $630
Gritty trigger pull with some creep. Spent a little time and hand polished the the action parts. Now a clean, crisp 5 pound break. Been to the range with it twice - a total of approx 750 rounds. 100% reliable with any ammo that I have. It really likes the 124 HST ammo. I have average size hands and no hammer bite and no issues with the short tang. Have on order a C&S extractor - just in case. I'm a big 1911 fan but I can see this pistol in my carry rotation. |

Are they still making this pistol?

Shedhorn Sports in Ennis, MT had three or four of these in stock earlier in the week.
Good guys to deal with and they will (or at least have in the past) ship to out of state FFLs. |
