I bought a 4" and 8" 629 (no dash ) around 1980 or so when home on leave from AK to NH. I sold the 8" to a pilot friend of mine and used the 4" as my flying & hunting backup piece for years. I did a bit of research a few years ago on it and found that less than 100 were made in 4" prior to going to the -1 and -2 shortly thereafter. I still have the gun but tossed the display box soon after buying it as it was just another piece of junk to lug around when moving. Smart move on my part. Unfortunately I no longer have that research and it may have been wrong but I've seen very few for sale on Gunbroker or anywhere else, mostly 6" guns. Either way you made a great trade.
