Was in a LGS to pick up some reloading components and came across this and decided I needed to add it to my collection:

1973 production Security Six. It's in pretty good shape, look like it was well taken care of and not shot much. Its an early enough model that it predates the lawyer labels Ruger plasters on the side of all their firearms.

The Security Six is one of my favorite pistols ever, right up there with S&W Mod. 19 Combat Magnum. Had a 6 inch SS, and traded it for, to me, the much more versatile 4 inch. model. Still one of the best revolvers ever made, and I for one do not think the GP 100 is much of an improvement. Always on the lookout for Single Sixes and Security Sixes at the shows and LGS's.

I agree, I much prefer the Security Six to the GP-100.

Nice score, you ain't getting hurt at that price. Don't see them in the box very often, and no billboard to boot.

Those reloading component trips get expensives.

That pistol is pure sex, OP. I want a stainless 4" Speed Six soooo bad.

I traded off a 4" stainless Security Six a few months ago. My regret over having done that is a big part of why I bought this one.

Is that one of the early ones with the oddball grip frame?

Yeah, but I don't plan on changing the grips, so I don't mind.

Great find and a good price.  You need to give it a range visit.

A while back I went to the local indoor range and had to wait for an open lane. I looked thru the display cases to pass the time and spotted a python on consignment. Now it is resting in my safe .

Great guns. I have the Stainless 6" in the box and a 2.75 in blue and stainless.  Can't beat them for durability

My father had the stainless version of the Security Six with a 6" barrel. He sold it to a friend that still has it today.  That's a nice find for the price.

Nice score. I'd like to find a Speed Six without the billboard.

Old model security sixes are awesome. I need a 6 inch barreled one made in 73. Have a 72 and a 74.

I had one of the short-barreled .357s, blued.  Paid $340 for it at a gunshow, and regret selling it.

think its the best .357 ever made for the money, probably stronger than anything S&W made in the caliber less than N frame at a much smaller size and weight.
