Can I carry a 629 with all six chambers loaded safely?
Or do I need to load five and carry it hammer down on an empty chamber?
Sorry for newb question but it is my first revolver with an exposed hammer.

All six is fine. Hammer can't contact firing pin without the trigger being held back.

El Paso Saddlery #88 pancake is an awesome concealment holster, they also make a thumb-brake version if you want the added security.

I have a galco combat master for my 629. Haven't really carried it much in it. I hike with my 3" 629 in a hill people gear recon chest rig though and its great to wear with a pack on.

I have many thousands of hours with a .44 on my hip. Without question my favorite holster is the Milt Sparks 200AW. It is the standard by which others are judged and based on the many blatant copies by other holstermakers, has to be one of the most popular designs ever for comfortable carry of a heavy revolver.

I carry a 4" 58 (fixed sight N frame in .41) in a DeSantis high ride pancake holster.  Carry it both open and concealed.  Don't know if they still make it however.  Easy to conceal under a shirt.  Another excellent OWB holster is the El Paso Saddlery #2, I had a 6.5" one for several Smith N frames for over 20 years and still in excellent shape.  My oldest son now has that holster along with my 29-2 6.5" but not good for concealed carry unless you have a field jacket on.

I have an El Paso Saddlery "Tom Threeperson's" holster for my Model 28 and one for my Model 29. The long strap is contrary to modern tactical or duty use but they are a great field rig.

I like the Galco vertical shoulder holster system. It's very comfortable and can be changed through the accessories offered to suit your needs.

I would need to get a wool, 3 piece suit, wingtip shoes and a fedora if I go that way.

El Paso Saddlery has a tanker holster for most autos, double and single action revolvers.

I used a Threepersons for years but haven't since I got the Simply Rugged Sourdough. It carries the revolver closer to the body and is much more comfortable.

It would never occur to me to carry it other than hammer-down; but wanted to clarify...
