Did they ever make these? If so what's the going price?
Yup, they made them.
Any of the "-six" guns seem to fetch $400 give or take $50 around here. Shorter barrels tend to bring a little more, but not much more. Obviously, condition, box, etc. plays into the price. |
Yes, and the short barreled sixes are becoming something of a cult item. Can be very hard to find.
not a security six if it doesn't have the adjustable rear sight, or am I incorrect? |
Mine is a Speed Six. Same exact gun except for the adjustable sights.
I don't see the difference. I've been wanting one though.
ETA: ok the difference in sights? |
I've been wanting one since I'm left handed. I find the cylinder release on them to be the easiest to work with.
ETA: just bought one. seen better days with the finish but im going to send it to mahovsky. |
They shoot extremely well. I found one for my Dad. Everyday I wish I had bought it for myself.

I had a Ruger Security Six, 6" barrel, and a Security Six with a short, probably 2 & 1/2 in barrel back in the 1980's. I don't remember why, but I traded one, and sold the other. That was one of my dumber moves, gun wise. The short barrel one had had an action job on it & was sweet to shoot. The 6" barrel one I bought new. Both were fine guns, very accurate. I both for cheap compared to today's prices. I never did understand why Ruger quit making them. I know I wish I still had both of them.
Thanks, Mark |

I just love the clean lines of the speed six. I want a GP100 with non adjustable sites but don't know whether to get a half or full lug one. Does Ruger make them both ways in a 4" bbl? |

They stopped because the GP is an easier gun to make fit different hands. The grip numb on the GP makes it much easier to swap different grip sizes. The older series was a traditional frame. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The GP 100 is a fine gun too! I held one at my local gun store after I bought a new S&W 686. I have to admit, I liked the feel of the Ruger better. But after 400-500 rounds through it, I guess I am used to the 686. I don't like the lock. Thanks again, Mark |

I normally only buy ss pistols but now I "need" an old-school blued bodyguard or something, lol. I'm really digging those GP's. Just can't decide on full or half lug. Weight isn't a concern since it will just be a range/bedside/vehicle piece. Plus, I need a GP! |
