Stainless flattop .357/9mm. I haven't shot it yet because I just got the grips in; previously it was nigh unholdable due to the horribly thin grips, and the replacement wooden Hogues I put on it looked gorgeous but put my hand on the wrong spot. These Altamonts seem to hit that Goldilocks zone. |

 Attached FileMy beater .45 Colt New Model Blackhawk made in 2005. Bought it off of one of our local forums. It was stolen from the original owner and it turned up a few years later. It had some light rust, a bent front sight, the anodizing on the grip frame and ejector rod housing are scuffed and chipped. He said the original grips were trashed so he put on a new pair of factory laminates. They are too big for me so I swapped them for this old set of wood grips. I've got a better grip frame coming so I will swap it and ship it to Chig for less fancy grips. Maybe his light ivory micarta's. I had it's twin that I sold and regretted. I couldn't pass this one up for the price. It's amazing how much decent Blackhawks are going for. The days of sub $300 shooters are long gone. |

I don't think I've posted anything in this thread.
Pietta New Model Army with gated Kirst Konverter and ejector rod, .45 Colt:  Attached FileVintage-1878 Smith & Wesson Model 1-1/2 Single Action in .32 S&W (not Long), with original 19th Century Ideal bullet mold and reloading tool. The ammo shown was loaded using the tool, including the bullets cast in the mold. Used ~5 grains of 3Fg black powder.  Attached FileRuger 50th Anniversary Blackhawk in .357. I replaced the uncomfortable for me plastic grips with rosewood grips from Ruger.  Attached FileNot shown are several others. Plus, this morning I ordered a 5.5" Uberti Bisley in .44-40 from Dixie Gun Works. Can't wait to get it. |

There's a story behind this Blackhawk. It belonged to my late ex-FIL
My ex-wife inherited it. She's a sensible woman. She awarded me permanent custody. She only knows how to shoot guns. I get to deal with care and feeding. Makes a nice companion piece for the Buffalo Classic.

EMF/Pietta GW2 .45 Colt. This one has the best trigger of any clone I've handled, including my Smoke Wagon Deluxe Taylor Tuned action example.
  If you hold the gun a certain angles, you can make out a remnant of a "Big Iron" marking on the barrel that used to be there. Big Iron was a budget model Cimarron used to sell, which was then replaced by their Pistolero line. I wonder what the story is on how that part made it on a EMF.    |

This beauty showed up today. I’ve been looking for a 3 screw flat top in .357. For a companion gun to the Winchester/Miroku 1873, also in 357. Its got a brass grip frame from a Super Blackhawk, custom front sight, Millett rear sight, case hardened frame, and Ivory micarta grips (that are too thick for me). It’s also been converted, and had an action job. I have a parts kit from a Super Blackhawk and may swap in that hammer, but the action is SWEET on this one so I may leave it alone.

the family mechanic gave me this to clean. its his fishing, snake-killing gun. he bought it new in 87. he takes better care of my truck than he does of this Ruger. grip frame had peeling paint, hammer has pitting, and general rustfullness. I got the rust off, polished the grip frame & oiled the thing up. gave it back to him this afternoon & he was pleased. I told him to use it, enjoy it, but give it to me once a year. I kinda wish I had taken before pics.

 I got interested in the Spanish American War and wanted my revolver to look the part because I cannot afford an actual Krag Carbine.

I have one, A 357 Trapper, I don’t intend to push it with flamethrower loads but I’m going to be afraid of factory level ammo either. If you’re a handloader, look at the data on Lil Gun powder. It produces velocity with much lower pressure than other powders. Doesn’t seem possible, but I called the Hodgdon tech people and they confirmed that the data is correct. The drawback to Lil Gun is that it burns very hot, so I wouldn’t use it for any rapid fire use. |

No, it's a Uberti. But with what I've read, I'm confident that standard. 357 loads will be alright. It'll mostly see .38s, or low loaded .357, anyway. I'll save magnum loads for when I'm in the field. I really want to hit a coyote with some hard cast.
