Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Ruger 1911 barrel marks?

I have a .45  Ruger SR 1911 that I stripped down to clean and noticed something on both sides of  lower lug (?).  It looks like the barrel has a slight slot that was machined on either side of the lug where it would contact the frame when the slide is back.  Not having another 1911 to compare is this normal?  I'd post pictures but photobucket and I don't get along.
