I have a new Wiley Clapp sp101. I noticed it has a very thick transfer bar that prevents the top of the hammer from contacting the frame when the trigger is pulled all the way back. The hammer does contact the frame as the trigger goes forward and the transfer bar slides out from under the hammer.

I examined an sp101 at a LGS and it does the same thing. I have had an sp101 in the past and do not recall it doing this. I also have a GP100 that does not do this. I think this feature will prevent light strikes but makes the trigger return more "ratchety" and squeaky. Anyone else have this issue? Is this only noted on sp101s?

I am going to use a diamond file to thin down the transfer bar a bit then polish it. I know not to thin it down too much to prevent light strikes.

I've had this happen on Ruger single actions before. I've both thinned the transfer bar and swapped them out for different ones and it solved the problem.

Ok thinned out the transfer bar and worked on the action. With an 11 pound hammer spring and 10 pound trigger spring I got the pull down to sl less than 8 lbs with no binding.
