Even Cabelas has them under $500 and their prices typically stink.

Hell no. I got mine for $439 from a local seller, a week after they came out.

Still too high for the Mark IV Target version.

Figure that you'll have to spend some extra money to replace the hammer, sear, and trigger (if you want a decent trigger pull). The magazine disconnector definitely has to go.

I picked up the Hunter version for $589 on a Black Friday sale at a local shop.  They had the black target models at their normal price of $399.  Absolutely love the Mark IV so far, and cleaning is so easy even I can do it without any cursing.

I would wait for the 22/45 IV.  I would like to get one but I've already got a tricked out 22/45 with Paclite upper.

I'd like  a stainless target but no local stock.
I can get a stainless hunter, but I'd want the target sights. What's the cost to replace sights? Would I be missing anything else by getting the hunter?

Is the hunter barrel longer? What about fluted barrel vs bull?

ETA:

Ok it looks like the hunter does have a longer barrel. Does the longer sight radius hive the hunter more inherent accuracy than the target? I'm thinking that target sights on the hunter would make a more accurate pistol than the target model.
