Thank you.  Here it is in the original '81 configuration:

Sweeet!
My 4" blue originally came with pach grips also, with some holster wear.
I'm guessing it might've been a service revolver at one point in it's life.

Mine was bought brand new May '81 at Davis police supply/gun store in Bellevue, WA for $505.  Bill Davis was in the shop when we picked it out.  I could have been in a police/service configuration since it was in that type of store.

Very nice.  I really want one of those!   Colt seems to be doing a good job on their current production.    JD

I was really surprised when I opened it.  It's very nicely dehorned, everything is fit well.  Just an all-around nice pistol.  Seriously makes me want to pick up a steel XSE for a range blaster.  And I'm a $3K 1911 snob....

My experience as well.  Picked up a Colt LW Commander and a Combat Elite recently.  The top end on both were very nicely done and the slide to frame fit (much less important to me unless it is a custom pistol).  Both shoot nice groups for a factory pistol.  Colt bbls always seem to shoot well.

As soon as I get my SACS pistol paid for, I'm going to get one of the Colt LW Govt. models.   JD

I have put pics of these two up elsewhere from time to time as I bought them both from the auction where Colt sold their archives collection.  It was an awesome auction and Colt was nice enough to send an archive letter with each one.

First was a Vietnan commemorative 1911.

I gave $900 for it.

Second was a Trooper .357  I gave $600 for it.

I'm re-posting my Colt MKIV Stainless Government Model 80 Series 1911 factory stock NIB (made in around 1990) from it's broken link on page 11 of this same picture thread, see the rest of my other three Colt 1911 pistols there.
