I'm not a 1911 guy. I just can't like them. I've had them, and always ended up selling them because I just wasn't happy.....and I've had everything from a Springfield TRP, to a Dan Wesson Specialist.

Then I saw the M45A1 adopted by the USMC, and fell in love with it, but was turned off by the insane price tag.

Fast forward to Colt releasing a standard production version of the M45A1.

I saw this at my local shop today, and for the price, had to pick it up. I paid $1700 brand new, which may be a little high for a production version, but they're hard to find, so I jumped on it.

Anything special I need to know about the M45A1, or do I treat it like any other 1911? Either way, it's a beautiful gun.

Ah, welcome back and very nice!
They are fantastic. Had Colt been doing this kind of work along with managing their finances, they would be at the top of the heap.
My only complaint is a stretch, is the UIC. I know they are required but, I dislike the look of a barcode on my .45
Again, very nice!

Very nice pistola. The only thing that turns me off are the big-ass grip screws.

No choice, they were out of conventional grip screws and couldn't afford more.  So, it was either these or lag bolts.

Yup. Someone offered me an insane price for it after the Dan Wesson factory caught on fire, so I sold it.

Probably not. It's more of a range toy for me.

I believe the production model is the marine corps model.  I believe they do not use custom guns as issue.

I have the exact same gun and I love it! The only thing for me was that I had to work the safety several hundred times to get it loosened up a bit but hey I would rather have one tight than loose! It is by far my fav 1911.

Nice pistol!

Given that it's cerakoted, I'm wondering if the feed ramp is coated, as it is on the black Rail Guns. My black CRG would fail to feed when I hit the slide release during reloads every once in a while, but it quit doing that once the paint wore off the feed ramp.

Now it runs like a scalded cat, and is easily my all-time favorite 1911.
