On my 709 if I pull the trigger, without hitting the trigger block safety, the trigger will travel fully rearward. I can feel where if the trigger block had been pressed in it would fire. The first part of the problem is that once the trigger is released it will not fire without racking the slide at least 1/4". Second part is that if the trigger is held back and the slide is moved that same 1/4" it fires. This seems like a pretty unsafe thing to me, even though it is a very unlikely situation in the real world.

Can anyone else replicate this or has anyone else heard of this issue?

Since no one else seems t ohave the issue I figured it was a one off defect and sent the firearms to Taurus. It's now awaiting parts to replace the trigger group, ejector, extractor, and all safety components.
