Was told fragmentable ammo would be good for home defense because it would not go through household walls.

Shot some Fiocchi Fragmentable ammo into a empty wooden ammo crate and the round when clean through both sides and through a newspaper pile behind the box.

It thought the fragmentable ammo was supposed to break up on contact???

Frangible ammo is designed to disintegrate when it hits something hard, like steel, or rock.

Regardless, it should be self-evident that if a round won't penetrate drywall, it won't penetrate to the vitals of a bad guy either.

First off, as stated above, if it will not go through drywall it will not hit an attacker's vitals, and secondly, many of the supposedly "safe" frangible ammo (like Glasers for instance,) actually acts like FMJ after passing through drywall anyway. Don't buy into the hype of that stuff would be my suggestion.
