I should be getting a G20 gen 4 in a few days and am looking at the various 10mm ammo out there, might end up carrying it when it gets colder out or using it for a night stand handgun.

What 10mm ammo would you use?

I use 165 gn Gold Dots from Underwood.  Seem to work great.  He also sells some lighter if over penetration is a concern.  I picked up some 135 gn Nosler HP's to try too.  Recoil is not bad on either for full house loads.

Probably 155 Barnes because it's loaded light.

Pick one. The low end is like 40 S&W and the high end is fire breathing  700ft/lb of energy man shredder, bolts of lightning.
I would pick what you hit consistantly best with. It will most likely be in the mid to lower range. Full SAMMI spec loads are not very comfortable unless you build the gun to handle the upper limit rounds. I think the highest ft/lb load I have seen in a factory offering is about 730 but I don't know if you can get that out of a 4.5" barrel anyway.

It depends on if you want full power (700 ft-lbf class) or lighter loads.

If full power, Buffalo Bore, Underwood or Double Tap. Buffalo Bore does have a couple of low recoil/low flash intermediate power tactical loads (~600 ft-lbf)

Most "normal" 10mm loads are "light" 10mm loads (which still have more energy than your typical 9mm, 40 and 45 ACP loads); something like the Hornady XTP or Critical Duty loads clock in at >400 ft-lbf.

I have Win 175gr Silvertips loaded now. I also like and use Hornady 180 and 200gr XTP.

200gr Buffalo Bore FMJ for outdoors.

When I had my 10mm,  I used a 180gr hst bullet loaded with 10.3 grains of longshot powder. That usually gave me around 1295 fps and was fairly confident that it would take care of most problems associated with 2 legged varmints

Great choice, congrats!

Look at Underwood for the full bore stuff.  For SD, I chose either the 180 Hornady XTPs of the Silvertips.

Keep mine loaded with 180 grain XTP's from Underwood. I use it as a woods load as well when I'm hunting Florida sized critters.

135 grain underwood jhps that go 1600FPS for around 775lbs of woopass.  But no seriously, i carry regular locally made (stevensville mt) armscor 180gr jhp which are still around the 400footpounds of energy and therefore better than my best 9mm.  these go fine in my new DW RZ-10.
