If unable to find Winchester 130 gr bonded +P JHP (RA38B) is Winchester 130 gr bonded +P PDX1 JHP (S38PDB) and acceptable substitute?

Do they use the same projectile?

If you are using it in a 2" barrel, I wouldn't trust either one.  That particular bullet needs to be going pretty fast to reliably open up.  Why not use Gold Dots (125g or 135g), or 125g Golden Sabers?

The 135Gn (+P) Gold Dot short brl load is pretty brutal in a lightweight j-frame. The .38 Spec Winchester 130 gr bonded +P JHP (RA38B) offers acceptable performance from a 2" brl according to Doc Roberts.  The 125Gn GS & GD do not offer acceptable performance.

I wouldn't care what the Doc says about that bullet after seeing both of those videos.  I've never seen a video where any Gold Dot has failed to expand, and from all the tests I've seen, the 125g+p Golden Sabers have done extremely well opening up at 2" barrel velocities.  The only negative with the GS is some have witnessed some jacket separation, but I'd trade that any day for non expansion.

They are the same. I might have a couple boxes of the RA38B in stock. I do not think it shows in stock on my web store.

I use the Winchester bonded 130gr . in my M642

Doc uses 110 +P Corbon DPX and says the recoil is  mild.

Thanks.

Shot up the rest of my 130 SXT at the range today and will use the 130 PDX1.
