I won a box of 38 Special 110 gr FTX® Critical Defense®
I plan to use it in my truck gun SW638. Is this stuff good to go or hype?
My usual ammo for all PD guns is Speer Gold Dots.
Thanks,

Hornady FTX 38 SPCL Critical Defense

Hornady went full anti when marketing the Critical Defense in order to conceal the fact that their round fails FBI protocol.

http://www.firearmstactical.com/tacticalbriefs/2006/04/main.htm

Originally stated By Steve Johnson, marketing director for Hornady:
"...is not designed to shoot through glass, is not designed to shoot through a car door, and is not designed to shoot through a wall.  If you have to shoot through something like that in a personal defense situation you're probably going to jail."

For a truck gun, to stop a carjacking, or to stop a driver gone mad running over pedestrians in a crowded outdoor shopping center, etc... everybody, both LE and plain civilian NEEDS ammunition that expands consistently through those FBI barriers. Shame on you Hornady.

Stick to 135 grain +P Gold Dots like in the Self Defense Ammo FAQ.
