Should I convert a non-ramped frame?

I have a mill; trust the Bar-Sto barrel.

Naturally, I think "what would Browning do?"

Ranps are different for 9, 40, and 45.

Ramped barrels are one way around this problem.
The ram is now part of the barrel, NOT the frame.

The frame ramp is milled away for clearance.

That is what I did when converting a Colt 45 over to 9mm, added a wilson cut 9mm barrel, lissener cut is what I would go with next.
