I have never had so much trouble with such a menial task in my life.
The Thread protector is so Damn tight on my NEW .22 Compact I don't know if it will actually come off without damaging the f**king barrel.

C'mon S&W QC you're killing us.  "well if tight is good, tighter must be better".

No because the barrel nut wrench opened up. So I just ordered a EWK wrench and new barrel nut. Ill wait until it arrived to mess with it anymore.

A quality tool makes all the difference.

Ordered the EWK wrench and a New Thread protector, and the factory came right off.
Well worth the funds.
