Try to date code a Model 29, has s/n 3346x. Blue and has an 8 3/8 in barrel. Can someone give me a source for the date of manufacture or tell me the date of manufacture?

I think you are mistaking an assembly number in the crane/yoke area for the serial number on the bottom of the butt which in all 44's would have a letter preceding the serial number such as N 56789. There may be a good amount of space between the letter and the numbers

Model 29 8-3/8" barrels were introduced in 1958, the 29 began in 1957. Dash one's began in 1962. See if your gun has a dash or no-dash next to the model number in the crane area.

After seeing the Model 29, it is a 29-2 , so never mind  . My buddy thought he had an original 29. but didn't  pay original 29 price. He has decided to shoot it instead of saving it for value.

OP, you've gotta ask yourself one question.
