In the last 30 days I've acquired two new to me Smith and Wesson revolvers. So last night I put them altogether and was surprised to see how many I actually possess. In order of when I acquired them.

Jan 1979 Model 28 6", 1984 Model 66 2.5", both of these were brand-new. Bought used, Fall of 2006 a model 586 4"' and a 629 6". March of 2012 a 686+ Mountain gun. Also in 2012 a model 617 10 shot, 2013 an old Model 10 in very nice shape. August 2014 a model 686+ 4" and a Model 27-2 4".

I guess I like S&Ws :)

Why 3 x86s? I was able to buy them at really good prices.

So what's in your wallet?

Colt Python  (having both, I prefer the S&W trigger setup by far)
Model 19-4 6"
Model 63 4"
K22 6"

I would like a 686 or 586 4" if I could find a bargain.   A 4" 66 would be nice too but for high round count use I'd rather go with an 86.  Oh and only 6 holers, I don't want not funny counts.

My first S&W was a 6" 586 I bought in 1981.

The second was a 4" 686 I bought about a month or so later in the fall of 1981.

Then third was one of those limited run N frame .357's with the 4" barrel and fixed sights.  I can never remember the model number on those.  I've never fired that one.

Then, the last one was a 4" M29 in 1983.  After I got the M29 I basically retired my Super Blackhawk.  It hasn't been shot in about 30 years.  I'll give it to one of my sons some day.  I'm keeping the M29.

DW 744
Ruger Old Army in 44
S&W 586-4
Colt Official Police
S&W 617-2

I still would like:

S&W 610 and 625, pre lock.
S&W 442 pre lock
S&W 629 pre lock, full underlug.

I'm probably going to trade out the DW for the Smith 629 classic. The DW is nice, but no parts, and hard to find anyone to work on one.

Well I posted from work where Photobucket is blocked.
Here goes:

This is the NAA 22 Magnum in CCH. They did not make very many of these:

Here are the 2 Merwin & Hulberts. Unusual guns made in the 1880s Top one is  spur trigger single action. Bottom one is a DA and the hammer spur folds down for pocket carry. These guns are held together via a vacuum seal and twist apart to open.

Top one cost me $50, bottom one about $100...gotta love Reno Antique stores where noone knows what a gun is if it's not Smith, Colt or Ruger!

Left is the Ulster Bulldog, Right is the Dutch 9.8 Nagant, note the safety lever on the Nagant, it locks the front of the cylinder and prevents cocking the hammer

Here is the S&W Model 2 38 SA 2nd Version

Forehand & Wadsworth 38 Bulldog

S&W 657,Probably my favorite stainless revolver

I have a lot of history with that one

Group shot of most of what's listed aside from the 2 derringers the other guns are MOP gripped NAA 22 Mag and a frosty S&W DA Model 2 in 38 made in the 1880s

S&W New Departure made 1901 and NAA 22 Mag

Alas, my collection is deficient.  Just a 642 and a Diamondback.  Wants are a Python (4", blued) and a GP100.  Maybe a 29.  And a Trooper.  And maybe a 686.  And can't forget the 586.  And a Nagant, just so I can suppress it.

Yeah, that should do it.

My amount of S&W Revolvers is very minimal to say the least.

1. circa 1942 British M&P "Victory Model" in .380" Revolver Cartridge (aka .38 S&W).
2. circa 1943 U.S. M&P "Victory Model" .38 Special.
3. circa 1966-1967 M&P Model 10-5 4" barrel .38 Special.

So, I have three S&W Revolvers, but they are basically all the same revolver LOL.

Also have
Post-War Commercial Webley & Scott Ltd. Mk.IV Revolver in .380" Revolver Cartridge
1942 No.2 Mk.I** (Enfield madel) .380" Revolver
1910 Colt Police Positive Revolver in .32 Colt New Police (Colt's version of the .32 S&W Long Ctg).

I've owned, near as I can figure, 23 S&W revolvers in my lifetime, and still own 17 of them, in varying frame size and calibers.

The only two I don't regret peddling/trading were a 3.5" Model 27 that had had the living daylights beaten out of it, and ultimately turned out to be unfixable, and a 6.5" Model 27 that shot lights out, but never balanced well for me.  I like 4" guns, and really don't much care for the longer ones.  My opinion, such as it is, and certainly not universal truth.

Owned a pile of wheel guns in my lifetime and am old enough to recall the days your choices in a combat handgun boiled down to a 1911 revolver or maybe a smith 39/59.
I have gone trough every phase of working guns at least once sometimes twice or more glock sig beretta h&k walther 1911 etc. in the end I always end up back with the revolver. I started on them and still shoot them the best for accuracy. Living in a mag limit state sucks but to a degree negates some of the so called firepower advantage of the auto. In my experience now into its fourth decade most run of the mill smith revolvers will outshoot for accuracy just about every modern auto made except the semi custom 1911's and sig 210's at a price where I could buy five revolvers for the cost of one of the autos.
My current wheel guns are:
Smith 36
Smith 17
Smith 14
Smith 15
Three colt saa's
On the hunt for a decent price beater four inch k and two inch 34
Even shoot bullseye matches with the 17&14 and can hold my own against guys using autos with red dots

Wheel guns of fun!

Actually just sold off that model 28-2 though and this shot is missing a nagant revolver.  Have had several others over the years that have come and gone. I miss a 686+ I sold off thinking the Wiley Clapp kind of filled the same role and am actually trying to reacquire one. Also had a Colt Official Police I shouldn't have let go but that's the life when you trade.
