The R series began in 1969 with R1. That is as much as my reference says. With your serial number It would appear to be of later manufacture.

Okay, that makes sense. Any ideas where I might more info on this serial number range? I actually have the box but there no date stamp on it...

Cost is a nominal $35-40 & they give you the date of birth & who it was first shipped to. Suitable for framing.........
