Maybe I missed it, but are you carrying with the safety off? well i havent carried it yet since its brand new but when i do carry it i will not use the safety. none of my M&Ps have safeties and i carry them all OWB in a good leather holster. |

Thanks, those were the exact pics I wanted to see.
Do you notice the weight difference all that much? My local place has 3 coming in Monday or Tuesday. Need to snag one. |

Damn it, this might have to replace my CM9. I will wait until they drop down in price a bit (I hope they don't continue to sell out).

The mag release doesn't reverse does it? Thanks I think it does. Look just like a fs inside |

How does the width of the slide rails compare to the standard M&P? I'd assume its slimmer but if there is ANY chance my sight pusher will work I'd be awfully happy....

Awesome Its unfortunate that the safety is even there at all The safety is terrible. I held one today. The safety is essentially flush to the frame. It's retarded. The only way I could engage it was my switching my grip and moving it with the tip of my thumb. Couldn't move it with the side of my thumb like how you normally would. Thankfully it is really hard to move (or at least the one I held) so it shouldn't move on you. However, I will be waiting for the no safety model, assuming it comes available |

quick video of the reset (this is with the apex sear in but its the same with the factor sear)

OP great job with the comparison text and pics. I'll be going to check out the three my dealer got in tomorrow!

do you feel that first click on the reset? No. I think the first click is the safety in the trigger. The second louder click is the actual reset and its very easy to feel |
|
so can you tell what any difference that would make the reset better compared to the older ones?
|
|
I just walked around all afternoon with the shield in my pocket, no holsters with safety on. I really like it.

can I put an FSS in it? Dont know. Never installed one. Only use upgraded sears in my m&ps |
|
How does the Shield compare to your CM9? I own a PM9 and love the way it feels in my hand and shoots great too. I like the way it naturally points as well. BTW your CM9 is awesome!

can I put an FSS in it? No. The trigger bar is bent differently between the shield and the standard 9mm. |

I'm pretty sure. After Evnash posted his well done pictures, I looked at it very carefully. All of the prior M&P's have a slight extension on the magazine release button on both sides. The shield only has it on the left side, so where we're able to reverse the others, on the shield it physically won't work.
For the life of me I can't figure why they would remove that option, the width would remain the same. The only thing I can figure was cost cutting to keep it as inexpensive as possible. .... |
|
And why notch the mags for it then? Maybe a lefty catch down the road?
|
|
Optimus, that's a good question. I sure hope you're correct. I'm a right hander who prefers the release on the right side.

Does the shield have the interchangeable grip pieces like the full size mp and mpc?
|
|
Seems like if they made the mag release reversible, people would ask why not the safety and slide stop. Sounds like a management decision to just make the gun for right handers

Looks like I will be ordering 2 Apex sears this weekend for my FS 9mm and my Shield. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/stmcelroy/Kydex%20Holsters/575043_413789978632383_100000041537720_26026233_1350490637_n.jpg Now ill tell ya the sear is harder to put in than in other models. That stupid safety bar holds the sear pin in and since you cant remove it, you have to find just the right angle to position it so the pin will clear and come out. If you have trouble, IM me when u are installing |

Quoted: Does the shield have the interchangeable grip pieces like the full size mp and mpc? No, it's a static piece. In one video they said M&P did make them changeable in order to maintain the thickness. Bummer, but it's not bad how it is really. I'm sure they'll be a slip on grip you can add to give you some more real estate to grab onto. |

Bud's added them to the website this morning. After looking through all the pictures here, I went ahead and ordered one, albeit for more money than you guys seem to be paying for them.
Oh well... I have to have an M&P9 in each size! Right?! |
|
Noticed a lot of questions on the reversible mag release. I just tried and it indeed is NOT reversible. Could've easily been designed to be IMO and I'm still looking at it a bit to see if there's a way to finagle a way to reverse it via some trimming etc. I'm content for now as I've been practicing manipulating it with my left hand and it doesn't seem too bad. Just will take a bit of practice!
Still, it'd be nice to see a solution b/c it looks doable but I'm hesitant to chew on a one day old gun, for now.
