That ought to be a handful. I took the Clip Grip off of my 442PC, got G10 magnas + a T-Grip on there and is far more comfortable. One problem with the Clip Grip is it doesn't weigh anything...and yours is on a .357 that doesn't weigh anything...

I just picked up the Model 64 on the bottom at my FFL today. Had the Model 65 in the middle for about 17 years and just got the Model 10 on top last year.
This makes 8 S&W revolvers for me - 4 of them K-frames. I bought all 3 of these used. Attached File |

Love the mountain gun. I didn't know they came blued. I think I normally see a mountain gun, stainless. Interesting.

I just received a plug for the 627 and will have to decide what I want to do with the 29 since there isn't a polished blue plug available. |

Been looking at this one.
Your thoughts on it? Trigger, weight, shooting it, etc etc? What other 44's do you own and how do they compare to this one? |

The PC model gives you more recoil than the Mountain Gun. Regardless I am going to carry it this hunting season as my back-up leaving the Mountain Gun home crying. The other .44 magnums (Colt 6" Anaconda, S&W 29-3 6" nickel, S&W 29-10 4" Blue, S&W 629-4 4" Mountain Gun and S&W 629-2 8 3/8"). IMHO I think you'll be pleased. |

Actually got in an argument in another forum about .44 vs 10mm for bear when some dude said he could put 10 rounds on target of 10mm before I could get two on with a .44. The picture I posted was actually from that. Average splits for the first round were identical to my 3-gun which surprised me with the double action I thought they’d be significantly slower (1.4-1.7...I’m not fast). Two shots in a 4.5” circle at 21 ft was averaging 2.3-2.6. I did a four shot string in 3.6 and that was really unpleasant, too much for practicing IMHO.Anyway, old boy has mysteriously disappeared from that thread I originally had some issues with the factory grips but no problem since getting the VZ’s on it. Good info thanks.
I have $700'ish of Cabelas gift cards I need to spend. Considering this 44 or a Henry 45-70. |

Picked up this 686-1 at Cabela’s yesterday. I’m amazed by its trigger. I had one of the nice blues 586s with the wood grips s&w made a few years ago and it’s trigger was nice. This old 686s trigger is even better. At least out here seems like used revolvers sell for pretty cheap. Makes me wish I could afford to stack em deep right now. |
|
|
Not a great picture but all of my S&W revolvers in one place. You should have seen me trying to carry all of them at once outside for this photo
