Isn't it better with the shorter barrel?   I think it is. You know, it is more balanced, visually. A matter of sizes, really (mass of the body of the handgun - if the barrel is too long as it usually was on these, I think it makes them look thinner, smaller etc.)

Well, to be honest with you, I think the 5.5" 1917 is like THE revolver of all revolvers.  OR a 4" K frame. (Victory)   For service sized revolvers.  However, when it comes to personal protection   A 3" K frame and your creation here are pretty darn good when it comes to looks and from what I understand, utility.  I don't really like the goofy 3.5" M-27   or was it a 28, that is so famous.   That one that Patton supposedly wore.  The underlug practically all the way makes it look wonky to me.   So yeah, this thing you got here, that barrel length, it looks perfect and it looks like it would FEEL perfect too.  Although having said that, I've never got to shoot a .45 revolver.
Anyways...  How does she shoot?

Like a beast. It shoots like a beast. Even too much for me.

I do have a few revolvers (I am re-posting also my beloved model 10 in 38sp, which is very shootable as you know) and the bigger calibers are harder to handle for me. Especially with that kind of grip shape (many do change to more modern grips but that's when I don't like those revolvers anymore - to me it's gotta stay old time classics).
I can definitely feel the recoil with that small of a handgrip you know. Not my thing, I am happy to have other .45ACP in semiauto that feel more manageable (my favorite of all times is my HK45C and HK45, for example).
That being said, I just love desperately both this monster and the model 10!

Reposting the 1917 in a different context, too.

That is awesome!

Thanks Ma'am!

Posting these two one next to the other now.

Not sure if the evident difference in size comes out. But there is.

I apologize if that came across like... well I'm guessing you already knew what a tyler t grip was.  Sorry about that.  They are gorgeous without them and I hear ya.  I would love a Victory someday, or maybe even settle for an older M&P.   I'm not sure I'd be man enough to shoot the 1917.  LOL.  Maybe someday I'll get to try one.

My grandpa was a sgt in WWII and died in france and more than likely he just had a Garand, or carbine.  Or Thompson.  And maybe a 1911.  But who knows.  I've not seen many pics of revolvers on 2nd ID guys, but I like to think it's possible.

I've looked at this gun and it's almost twin the S&W 327 TRR8 and I can't figure out what's different.  I even compared them on the S&W website and every single thing on them is exactly the same except the model designation.  Why would they offer two guns that are exactly the same except the name? There's gotta be something different.

NO apology necessary whatsoever. I did get it as you meant it, nicely.

Thanks and have fun,

Early-Mid 80's M38-1, took it in on trade at work, had to buy it myself, just looked to cool. Excellent condition, can't wait to shoot it. Apologies for the quick cell pic.

Just have to brag a little, I picked up this fine 686-3 a couple weeks ago off Gun Broker.

Then this past weekend, I picked up this fine 625-3 at a local gunshow. Didn't figure I would ever find one in the wild, especially in such great condition.

I wasnt intending on purchasing a revolver while looking for something else. But something caught my eye and had to touch it. Havent been interested in revolvers in over 30 years and putting my hands on it just to look gave me the bug to purchase. I ended buying a sw 686-6 plus talo in a 3 inch for $650 new in box. Staying away from shooting revolvers for so long i think back and wonder why. This just feels good in hand and shooting 357's and 38's was a fun change. Now i am looking at other revolvers to fill a collection i had no interest in for too long. Cant wait to get out and shot the 686 again ?. Now to figure out how to post an image of it to share.

What grips are those on that model 67?

And, where can I get them?

This one is special to me. It is a run of the mill 1975 production Model 64. But what makes it special?

In 1975, my father graduated the police academy in Miami and went to work as a Patrol Officer. Well, he needed an off duty gun. So he bought three of these. One for him, one for my Padrino, and one for my Abuelo. Miami was starting to get bad. The cocaine wars were right around the corner as was Merial. So Dad figured his brother and dad needed a gun to carry too since they both ran their own businesses. Back then, getting a permit to carry was very hard and guns had to be registered with the county. But since Dad was LE.... problem solved.

Dad and Padrino later sold their but not Abuelo. He kept right on carrying it until he couldn't no more and that was around 2005. Sadly, when the cancer advanced to the point that it affected his mental health. We had to take it away from him. It was hard. He later passed away from cancer that year.

This year Dad is battling cancer and I've spent the last week next to him in the hospital. It is a tough fight but he is winning. So Dad figured it was time for me to have Abuelo's gun.

This one is never being sold. I remember as a kid when Abuelo would come home and put a stack of cash and this revolver in his safe. Everyday, seven days a week he did that.

This was my great grandfathers. Best I can tell it is an early 50's manufacture m&p. Here it is with his Argus iron claw, peerless handcuffs, and leather sap/blackjack thingy.

Been wanting one of these for a long time...  Best I can tell, there were only 450 made in 3 series of 150 each.

And the best part... It was first in the third series...

I'll add, there are some beautiful heaters in this thread and I like 'em all but have mad love for the 586's.

Those are stock factory combat grips on the snubby 586.  I no longer own that one as someone wanted it a lot more than I did.

Love this, and it will be my next ccw/trail gun...two questions:  how is the recoil compared to full size, and how is the grip with the shortened length?
