This is my first post on AR15. I've been lurking for a very long time. I'm looking for information on the 96A1. I've been wanting a Beretta M9 type for a while but really don't need another 9mm. I don't know anyone that has the 96A1 so I have not been able to shoot one. I really like how the M9 shoots. The reviews and articles that I have found lack some detail. I've only been able to find the Italian made 96A1. Are they making the 96A1 in the US? Are the Made in Italy as good as the Made in USA?

I really like my italian made 96A1, but cannot find a reasonably priced holster for it.

I'm pretty sure the 92a1 and 96a1 are on lyrics made in Italy

92A1 / 96A1 are made in Italy

M9A1 is made in the US

The Italian 92A1 is excellent, and I would not hesitate to buy the 96A1 if I wanted a .40

And you can never have too many 9mm pistols OP

I love my 92A1. It is tuned using WC, Wolff and BUSA parts. One of the best shooting 9mm's I own with a very nice trigger. One of the things I like most about the 92A1 is the weight, once a light is added it is fantastic under recoil. It is a very soft 9mm. While the .40 might be slightly snapper, I don't imagin it is that noticeable.
Holsters are the only down side to them. A lot of holster makers don't understand that the 92A1 is a little beefier then a normal 92. I do have a holster on order from Bravo Concealment that is supposed to be made for the 92A1 with the Surefire X300U-B.

If you're going to have a light on it then just buy a m9a1 lightbearing holster

If you're interested, I have a line on crazy cheap, brand new 90-two chambered in .40 S&W. I'm very tempted myself to pick one or two up at the price they're going for. Let me know and I'll PM you the link.

Why does this thing cost so much? I've been looking for a 96 or 96A1 & even used the 96A1 is going for $550 or more...
All the 96's I have seen were beat to hell & were like $400.

Well it is a Beretta... look at comparable grade metal framed pistols (Sig/CZ) and compare prices.  ~$550 is not expensive IMO.
