P320 was 529.00 gun shop offered 400.00 for P239 with 3 mags,Hogue grips, original Sig grips and manual.Reason was nobody wants a single stack any more, does this sound reasonable? His offer was my trade plus 200.00 more.

Sell it privately.  I'm seeing them for $500 to $600 used.

If it's a 9MM you should be able to get $500 on the used market.

The problem is I was hoping to trade straight across since I've been dealing with cancer and haven't worked in over a year.

Yep, trading it in at a gun store would probably net you $350. At least around here. So, $200 cash on top of your trade for the P320 would be in the ballpark. Or list on a local board for a FTF transaction and you could tell it in a day for $450.

You want to trade a "not the greatest selling" (currently) P239 for one of the hottest selling SIGs on the market? If you find a dealer willing to make this trade, I would bet he either hasn't been a dealer long or doesn't plan to be one much longer.

As others stated, you would be better off selling the P239 yourself. The dealer is in business to make money. He can not take in a used gun for the current market value because he has to turn around and sale this same gun at market value. He would be loosing money.

Haven't traded or bought any Sigs in quite a while, didn't know the 320 was the hottest selling Sig on the market or the 239 was no longer worth anything, didn't hurt to try,I don't need the gun anyway and since I haven't worked in over a year I can't justify the extra 200.00 that he wanted,no big deal.

Sell your pistol for $550 here, or armslist, or you local paper, and then take that money and buy the p320

Sell here, many people love the 239, me included. Single stacks are still desirable especially for a ccw. Plus a lot just want every sig model there is.

Sell the p239 and buy a p320. I bought my p320 CPO 9mm full size with two mags for $399 off gunbroker member TheAttic in SD. You should be able to atleast break even. You can search gun broker sold auctions to see what a model with your options sold for. I've watched several end in the 400's with no reserve and no bids, DA/SA 9mm seem to sell the best.

I'm surprised they offered that much (at least they wouldn't around ChicagoLand) as I usually see offers from shops less than half of what they might sell for on the 'nets...

I think that's a decent offer but I'd bet you could sell a P239 for more than that here or elsewhere (I usually see them for sale in the $500 area if really nice condition...extras may bump the price a touch)

Right now, single stack small pistols are selling like hotcakes...single stack, medium and slightly heavy (read not plastic) not as much but there are plenty still looking.

Good luck with your choice.

Bill

Yea, i would post that p239 for sale on here and it will be gone in no time. As soon as my M&P 9 sells, the p239 is actually the gun i will be looking to buy myself.

Why do you want the 320?  The 239 (if a 9mm) is a kick-ass pistol.  It's all I own other than my Glock 43.

According to the dealer here in Oklahoma he can't hardly sell a single stack.

I have shot the 239 very little because the frame and trigger guard rub on my finger below the trigger guard when I shoot, it's quite uncomfortable.I've replaced the grips but that made no difference.I had read some good things about the 320 so I thought I would try to trade for one.I may just give it to my daughter and her husband since they can't afford one right now.

That is a good offer from a gun shop , but you could get more for it on your own , then you have to box it up and ship also to their ffl guy . that 239 is heavy and single stack.

Put it on Armslist as trade only for P320.

I had a 239 SAS. 9mm in gen 2.   Couldn't give it away.

Shot well, it's a Sig.  Did absolutely nothing great.  Was completely mediocre in all categories.

Advertise it locally.  My recommendation is not look to highly into what you'll get for it.

Around DFW Sigs just don't hold a lot of resale. By Dallas standards $400 was a good trade in offer.

Very nice gesture to your daughter. If you'd lived close by I would have given you $500 for a nice condition P239. My wife has the SAS model, loves it so I wouldn't mind having another
