I have two.  Both about the same miles.
One sounds and feels like an old Gov't model - rattle, rattle, rattle.
The other is nice and tight...

Both shoot about the same (it's not like I have a Ransom rest.)

The rattler normal?

I'm actually more surprised by the Sig that doesn't rattle.

The only rattle that my P220 makes is when the grip screws come a little loose.

Frame to slide fit rattle?
Magazine inserted rattle?

OP can you be more specific on what exactly is rattling?

Slide to frame.  A noticeably loose fit.

Does it rattle with the mag full or even with an empty mag inserted?

I have three Sigs. Love all of them. 100%reliable thus far.

Frame/slide rattle is as follows:

Mk25D: rattles the most of all three. Likely also has highest round count. My favorite.
Legion 226 9mm : not much rattle, but not tight like a $3k 1911. Pretty tight, but some wiggle room
W. German 228: in between the other two. Gun was bought used, but clearly not shot much.

Interesting.  Ok, I'm headed down to the range to see if I can pit them against each other....

2013 Sig p226, very loose, rattles, can fit 8 sheets on paper in between the frame and slide for 2/3 of the length of the Frame from the barrel back

1987 W German Sig, tight as can be, no rattle. 2 sheets of paper in one spot, 1 sheet the rest of the way.

I shot the loose-frame group first (on the right).  Thought that was going to be the winner for sure.

Then I shot the tight-frame group (on the left).  While I was impressed, the groups themselves are both pretty close to being "nice and small".

I had a Tyson corner that did that. I began lubing with mobil-1 and it went away. I can't promise thats what it was but I have no other explanation.

OP, how much rattle do you have. I recently bought a 2nd hand P226 and the guy claimed only 150 rounds through it. When I shake it back and forth it has a slight rattle to it.

To me, it's more than a slight rattle.  It's not ridiculous, but rather noticeable.

SIGs rattling slide-to-frame doesn't make them shoot any worse. The sights are on the slide, and the barrel locks into the slide. Use a generous coating of RIG or other grease on the rails and it won't bother you as much.

Ok, thanks - I'll give it a try.

Did you see his groups?

I sure did. Nice groups! It's just a common myth I like to dispel. Years later, when someone finds this thread in a search, his nice target photo may not survive, but the text probably will. If you field strip a SIG, and hold the barrel in lockup position with your thumb, then attempt to move the muzzle around within the slide, or move the chamber end side-to-side, that's the real test for play which can negatively affect precision. You're not likely to find any either.

What Im saying is that his loose one shot slightly worse than the tighter one.
