Title says it. I have a line on a new mk25 for 950$. I've been wanting a legion 229 but not sure if it's worth the extra coin.
Looking for some advice. This will be my first sig.

the obvious answer is a 226 tacops :)

what do you plan on doing with it? the 229 is a bit smaller, probably a bit more easy for carry

Get both

I say MK25.   The difference in size between the two is not enough to justify the shorter grip of the 229, IMO.

I like the 1913 spec rail on the MK25.

Don't plan on using it as a carry piece but like that option if I want to. Primarily a range toy maybe as a comp pistol. Primarily shooting suppressed so the legion would need to get a threaded barrel and both will need suppressor height sights.

Primarily range toy/HD gun?  MK25 all the way.  I tried a P229 as a carry gun after getting hooked on the P226 and it was just too much for me.  I used to carry a Glock 19 and an H&K P2000, carry a P239 or a Glock 43 now.

+1 For the MK25. I have had mine  (desert version) for about 18 months and absolutely love it! I also don't see a benefit to the 229 over 226 platform. I conceal carry my MK25 in a Galco Summer Carry with ease and I shoot it suppressed/unsuppressed. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the MK25!

Big difference and yes the extra cost is more than worth it.  First off they are two different variants, your comparing the 226 to the smaller 229.  While the MK25 is an excellent gun, it does not have the srt (short reset trigger) but that is an easy drop in if you want.  Also the action on the da pull of the legion is much smoother and with combined with the srt is a much vastly improved trigger.  The legion comes with the gray guns intermediate trigger along with the improvements I mentioned.  The legion x-ray sights are much better than the sig ns.  Better grip with the g10's,  you have a better undercut checkering on the trigger guard, smaller controls, steel guide rod.  While these are small differences, in total they are big improvement IMO and well worth the extra money.

Gonna pick up the Mk25 on Monday. Thanks for the help!  Legion will come later.

$950 seems a bit pricey for a MK25.  I have seen deals for NIB at $800 on slickguns numerous times.  Would be hard to get excited about $950, unless you had to have it today.

MK25 was $870 at Big Deez guns in Arizona.  I'm in Ga and they were great to deal with.

MK25

P229 is not much smaller, and the "new" tapered P229 mags are hard to find and expensive

I sold my P229 because I always gravitated towards my P226

He ruined nothing, he directed you to your next shooting joygasm. Get one. Check all the other reviews, you'll have a tough time finding anyone that regretted the purchase.
